A FEELING

About two weeks had passed since Shakaja started wandering through Sosaria. So far, she knew nothing more than at the beginning. She spent most the time dawdling around or staring at random things. Here and there, she recognized herself in some small talk with people she didnt know. She realized how people became less and less scared, probably because her flesh was regenerating and people hadnt to fear anymore that there might be a rotting corpse hidden under the shroud. She still had no hair at all and the skin was looking like a battlefield.

It was early evening, Shakaja was sitting besides the little pond in her garden looking how the streets became empty. She saw how the sun sunk lower and lower. First, she didnt realize a bird had landed on her shoulder. When the sun started to brush against the horizon, the bird softly began to sing. Unable to move, she stared at the sunset and eavesdropped the melancholy melody. She couldnt believe it, first she didnt even understand what it was. For the first time in the last two years, she was able to feel something. A warmth began to spread out, from the feet of the bird to her entire body. A marvelous mixture of joy a fear gave her the creeps, the change between her own loneliness and frailty and an unbelievable happiness was so intense that she started to cry. The bird gently caressed her cheek with his head and dried her tears and while he did, Shakaja felt how something started to change in her. Her skin started to heal up and she felt hair growing out of her head. Dizziness and weakness left her unable to sit up while it became darker and darker. Lying on the floor she passed out. Confusing nightmares must have wakened her up a few times but every time she woke up, she heard a incredibly beautiful song and calmed down she fell asleep again.

When she woke up, the sun was already up again. In astonishment, she sat up and stared at the bird. He sat on her foot and looked at her. The entire night he must have sat there, singing and watching out for her. Never before had she seen a phoenix and she was amazed by his beauty; she sat there for hours staring into his eyes. He seemed to be a stronger lightsource than the sun and it was insanely hard for her to avert her look. When her look fell onto her hands, she realized that the skin was intact and soft. She ran her right hand over her left arm up to her shoulder and touched hair. Her look went back to the bird who seemed to smile. The bird spread his wings. For a while, he hovered in front of her and flickered very strongly, than he flew away, leaving a small pile of feathers. For hours, Shakaja sat there on the floor, her hand passing through the pile of feathers. When the sun began to sink, she went in her house and - dreaming of an adorable melody - she started to make herself new clothes out of the feathers...
