Royal Library in Ter-Mur accepting book donations

Hello everyone,

The Royal Library of Ter-Mur, located south-east (straight down) from the Ter-Mur moongate, is now accepting donations of player-written books of all catagories. There is a mailbox out front for this purpose.

The library is still under construction, so don't plan to find too many books yet as they are all bagged up at the moment.

The Royal Library will not function like most static libraries. There are just too many books out there and not enough lockdowns to display them all! So my solution to that problem is having a rotating collection of books organized on particular themes. For example: One month all books regarding various races and creatures of the lands are displayed, the next month those books are taken down and tomes regarding the history of various guilds and organizations are displayed. And so forth.

This provides visitors an ever-changing library of books to go through. Not only that, but the books will not just be randomly tossed around the shelves, and you will be able to find the types of books you are looking for.

Any player-written book donations would be greatly appreciated, and feel free to leave your name so that I might include you in a public Donations book.

Also, stay tuned for writing contests! These contests will help fill the shelves according to the up-coming theme. If the up-coming theme is about the virtues, then the contest would be to write a book about the virtues (or against them!); creativity is rewarded highly! There will be large monetary prizes, and perhaps artifact/rare prizes as well.

Thank you for your time and I hope you get a chance to make a donation!

Player-run libraries, runebooks or otherwise, are one of the best things in this game. I love that you'll have a rotating showcase of the ones in your collection, it's a very neat idea.
I may have one or two player-written books around to donate (I've given a few of them to other libraries before, but hopefully I'll have a few more for you all :)).
Congrats on getting started! Are there any plans for a grand-opening type event?

Player-run libraries rock. When I came back to UO not too long ago, I went out to find as many of the libraries that I could. I found a handful, some with many books, others with not so many, but they tended to be limited by the lockdowns available to them unfortunately. The NPC libraries are a joke as they only have the same 29 books over and over and over.

I do not have any plans yet about any sort of grand opening. I shy away from those events generally as I have a pretty hectic work schedule where I work anywhere between 40 and 100 hours a week, so I am reluctant at this point to plan one. Maybe just a simple and quiet grand opening to let people know it is ready. My focus was going to be the writing contests to (hopefully) stir up interest.
