Royal Guard Ranks and Promotion

We've began a new system of rank and promotion for those who wish to participate, by serving as a member of the Royal Guard. With this we hope to begin the creation of a functional Guard...One that may eventually find itself led by some of the very recruits enlisting today.

EM Aname and myself have worked out a way to track the participation of you, the players, within the Guard. You will advance through the promotion system by attending events, completing training exercises, or by standing out where others don't.

Your ability to kill, or how often you die, will not count towards promotion (or demotion, for that matter). Rather participation and loyalty are key. You CAN be demoted for working against the Guard, among other things.

Achievable ranks:

Recruit - Anyone who registers with the Guard will begin here.

Private - You are now an acting member of the Guard.

Private 1st Class

Lancepesade - You may be asked to perform special duties, at this rank.

Corporal

Man-At-Arms (or Woman-At-Arms ;) ) - You are entering the leadership ranks, now.

Sergeant - You may very well be asked to lead Guardsmen into battle at this point.

Sergeant First Class

Staff Sergeant

Master Sergeant

First Sergeant

Sergeant Major - You are the highest enlisted rank within the Guard.

There will also be Warrant Officer, 2nd Lieutenant, and 1st Lieutenant ranks available by commission, only after having reached the Sergeant Major rank. We do not expect any players to reach the Sergeant ranks very quickly... Indeed it may take the most dedicated of Guardsmen many, many, many months (to well over a year) to reach the point where they may be called upon to lead. Still, it is a worthy goal to chase.

Certain methods of rank recognition will be used, both in game and out of game. We will leave this as a surprise until the first players reach the rank of Private.

Ranks and advancement will only apply to individual characters. Not accounts.
