So I went to Brit and saw the rope chest. I clicked it and got a coiled rope with a timer and the captain of the guard said that there are rioters that can be killed or subdued. Where are these rioters, and when found, what do I do with them? Also,do the rioters have anything to do with town loyalty?

That's interesting...
Seems the system is like the pirate hunting quest, you have to find the roiters and subdue them. Then use the rope to arrest them.

Surely will let you gain loyalty, and if the system is like the pirates, arrest them get you a better reward than kill...

I looked at a few towns and only found a rope chest in West Brit. I wonder if we all get the rope there then decide what town to protect.

The rope has a 1 hour timer on it (3600 seconds) and if you dbl click the chest prior you will get a new rope which will replace the old rope. There is a one minute delay before you can replace a received rope.

"You take a Rope from the chest."
"Use it to arrest rioters and subdue raiders."
"You return your other rope."
"You must wait a moment before taking another rope."

"Many of our poorer brothers and sisters are protesting, because they cannot earn a living in these hard times. Gifts of money, food, and clothing would go far to ease their fears." Tried to give gold to a peasant escort, of course, she ate the gold and nothing happened. Gold-named peasants don't accept gold drop and have no bark.

"Some of our citizens have begun to riot. They have crossed the line and are causing destruction! There are too many of them for the city guard to handle. Please, take this rope and use it to arrest the rioters, and return them here."

"The rioters are starting fires and leaving trailed of destruction behind them. We desperately need your help putting out the fires. Also, cleaning up the garbage would certainly be appreciated. (To put out a fire or clean up garbage, double-click it.)" I guess one thing to do is to ctrl-alt and look for fires or garbage. If you find any, I guess the NPCs must be close by?

"Groups of raiders from other cities have been infiltrating our city and attacking innocent citizens! [...] Slay the raiders if you must. However, you may attempt to subdue and arrest them. If you do so, they must be returned to their home city. Our jails are overflowing!"

Couple of questions on the loyalty thing

Is it per char or per account?

What does it actually DO?

I think it is per character although we have no way to test anything yet as there seems to be no way to raise loyalty yet at least not that i have found

Yew's robe is right outside the Courth of Truth. Vesper's is near the docks (fishmonger one). The other towns that have loyality ratings each has a rope with a Guard Captain. Skara us sw of town north of provisioners I think.

With no central ruler, each town has been running it's own accord. They can charge the other towns with whatever they feel like depending on what they get from whom. I guess the citizens might be hungry in some towns while others are full with excess supply. So this is leading up into the problem that is going to happen. Least that is my guess.

I still have not found any fires or riots in or outside of towns. But sure someone will run across one sometime. If they are to common, it would be kind of silly. To rare be kind of hard but it sounds really fun regardless. If they are not very common, then it might bring people back to thier towns, and explore somemore. I think that the purpose from this aswell. You will get to meet players that enjoy the town whichever you pick.

Ah thank you, you would figure a guard captain of Moonglow, would be somewhere in the main town. But this has alittle his own personal home feel lol.

This content is live on Origin but while you seem to get credit it doesn't seem to show up on loyalty (says unknown). Took a Minoc protestor back to the guard by using rope and received credit. Also dbl-clicked fires and garbage for credit, but still unknown on status.

"Thank you, [ ], for your assistance during these difficult times."
"Your deeds in the city of [ ] are worthy of praise."

Drop gold, food, clothing on blue-named protestors.
Dbl-click fire, garbage around gray-named protestors, and bound them with rope. Bring them back to city guard.

How do you check what your loyaltys rating is?

EDIT: nvm I found it, you just click your char and select loyalty rating

I have a question, if anyone is still reading these boards (since it went live this morning). I know that if you gain loyalty in multiple cities it's a *bad* thing. My question is this:

This morning I arrested 2 angry rioters, put out some fires, and picked up some garbage in Skara. That's it. Not enough for any loyalty to even show up on my loyalty list.

But now I am considering that, for this character, I probably should have chosen Vesper.

Can I switch at this point to Vesper? Or is the damage done?

you can switch to Vesper, but loyalty to Skara will go negative. (I think)

Hmm. Okay. I might do that anyway - see just how 'negative' it makes it, and if it even shows up. I wouldn't think it would be much.

When I was on Test playing around with this, I did a couple of towns, but it was never enough (in either place) to register on the loyalty listing.

I guess I'll find out! I had started out thinking that I would have all my characters give their loyalty to one town. But then this morning I decided I should instead give it to whatever town they live closest to. I have characters near Skara, Vesper, Zento, Termur and in New Magencia. So I have two characters that might remain 'neutral' (those in Termur and Zento).

I think they might have missed an opportunity in Termur though (unless they have something else planned down the road for it, which they probably do). I mean, Termur already has all those refugees. . . .

There's some question as to whether the point system registered points prior to the second to last change to Origin/Test (whether or not the point system allowed correct display of status upgrades from "unknown" to whatever). Also, I've yet to see "raiders." I believe raiders will bring about the negative, or penalties; I think what will happen is if you arrest a raider from another town, said a Raider from Moonglow who is attacking Skara Brae--then you might get negative Moonglow points. Speculation, but, there is no logical correlation between acts of kindess per city, imo...why would Vesper be angry if you helped both Britain and Vesper by stopping rioters?

I've only gotten to 1st tier "Commended" on Origin (Minoc). Sounds like something for Test Center.

Edit: Per Stratics, it seems as if KILLING rioters will decrease your favor. I never killed one so I didn't know :D

More fun facts:

- angry rioters respond to "name" move command, haha.
- they throw molotovs (a molotov spawns nearby) every so often w/ 3-2-1 countdown, then a fire begins

Np, SunWolf pointed me in the right direction on a lot of the cities.

At this point we only know of a spoiler which suggests a turn-in system for our loyalty points...for items which, at this point, we aren't too sure about as far as what they provide the user. Perhaps best to wait it out, but it's char-based, not account based, which should keep it flexible for those who need to--focus on a different city.

For now, the event seems to cater mages (because they can gate raiders directly to other towns whereas dexxers are at a clear disadvantage in that regard).
