Last night I saw something that really took temerity to new heights.

Some yahoo blamed the guy who ressed him because he did him that favor in an area where the Crimson Dragon lumbered across and did his area of attack. "Nice going you dummy, you got me killed again" were his words.

Hopefully, these were playful words in jest to a friend. I don't like to think the guy was genuinely mad over a favor done for him.

Anyhoo, that's not really (directly) what I'm posting about here.

Yeah, I'm in a bitchy mood over last night. Maybe I'm getting a little too thin-skinned. Probably, as most of these things that soured me wouldn't even faze me 99% of the time. But I digress...

I have 120 healing and more bandies than I can count, which are so cheap that it costs me next to nothing to ress someone, just a few seconds of my time. Furthermore, as a PAS member, I'm bound to ress anyone who needs it, with very specific exceptions (the guy is griefing, etc). There are plenty of people I don't like who I'll still ress because of this (even the jackass in Sickie's room, I would have ressed him if he needed it)

Anyhow, one of the very, very nice things I have always relished is the courtesy you get 99.99% of the time from people you ress. A "ty," "thank you," "" or some other token sign of gratitude. I'm often amazed, despite how often people can be asses in this game, you almost always get that courtesy.

Last night someone in our alliance network (again won't say who), died several times fighting the Crimson Dragons, as did we all. I counted. I ressed him twelve times. You see, I often chase ghosts to show I'll ress them if they'll stop. So soon he was running to me, and I was ressing him. Strictly routine.

But not once out of those 12 times did he say thanks. Or acknowledge that I did in fact help him out. In fact he didn't say anything to me (directly) all night.

I know this fellow and know he's a stand up guy who has helped me out on many occasion, a good guildie who I've fought alongside many times. I'm sure it was just an oversight.

But the point of my post.... should I have felt a bit annoyed about this? Do you feel irritated when someone you ress doesn't take a second to just type in two letters (ty)?

But hey, last night put me in megabitchin' mode anyway...

If its someone you know, I dont think a ty is needed, its expected that a group of freinds will res each other. Strangers on the other hand, I would say thanks.

hehe happens all the time especially when there is some event or major battle people are more interested in getting back into the action than saying a TY or showing any courtesy.

To add to your post of ignorant behaviour-

You rez someone then they b*tch at you to heal, invis, in lor them without saying TY for the mana you just shelled out to rez them

or

I spend a lot of time rezzing so when sh*t happens how come none of the people I just spent the last hour+ rezzing multiple times never feel inclined to rez me??? now that attitude really gets my dander up

I don't mind it. But I have very specific reasons.... my job. I work in a company that manages it infrastructure for hundreds of clients. Often I get into the middle of issues that involve mass communicating with my management, co-workers and the ailing companies' cast and crew. Sometimes CCing 15 or more individuals. When things are up and running again, a flood of thank you replies come from most all of them.

I do appreciate the gesture but often I am juggling many issues at once. Getting 10 or 12 thank you messages actually gums up the works when I am really swamped.

I guess some of that spills into the game. Oddly enough after a long day at work I even find "ty" a bit annoying.

wich player are u , the mage/SW or the archer?
one thing i will tell u, to go with a fencer to the spider room is much more stronger then as an archer or a mage.
u both blocked sicarii at the gate so u could stand in a relativ save position and FARM the spider, and jackass wanted only to kill sicarii 1 time, for the web-deed, she dont farm anything, and she play not often , i told her to go there bevore the event is over.
u both showed her true harrasment there.
u both should shame for ure behavior.
if u think sicarii is only for archer and mages because those templates can farm in a safe spot behind the teleporter and if other player join the room u start to perma hide/invi so dexxers are perma target, thats a very lame behavior.

not every time a thanks is needed, i ress ALWAYS and i never wait for a thanks,
i ress (if i recognice the ghost ) because i get ressed to, i see many player dieing multiple times on the ress position because they try to say ty or thank,
SEVETY first,ress and invi and done, no need for a THANKS,
ressing should be a NORMAL behavior in the game, because it is an mmo, and not a solo game.
i dont need a thank u, if i ress someone
in german we say : "tue gutes dann wird dir gutes getan"

if the position u get ressed secure, ok, a thanks or a small talk is nice, but in the head of a battle, dont expect thanks for ressing,ress and ok.

I have no problem rezzing folks ... even if no thanks are given. However, most of the time a very fast "ty" is shot my way as they zoom off. Works for me ... and since it's the majority who DO appreciate it, try not to let it get to you.

To Mr X: I have seen at least 2 other responses by you of exactly the same thing ... I think it's rude and uncalled for. If you have nothing substantial to contribute why bother yourself or (especially) us?

I don't really mind if I don't get a thankd for giving a rez, after all, I have the satisfaction of having helped someone. I don't always give an immediate thanks (usually only when I'm running for my life after a rez) but I try to track down the one who helped me afterwards

I'll usually res someone, if it's not totally out of my way.
On a mage, it's a little different to shell out 40 mana, or whatever, especially when I'm trying to keep something busy with EVs or whatnot.
But, with bandages, as long as I don't need them elsewhere, I'll slap a bandage on a nearby ghost. As PC said, it only costs a few seconds.

Usually, I don't notice thanks, or complaining, if I'm busy doing something else.
But, whenever I'm ressed, I always take the time to say "thank you".
The full thing, typed out each time, not from a macro. Daft, I know, but I figure if someone's taken the time to get me back in the game, they've earned at least that.

I like my healing Pally. If not in battle area, I can rez several ghosts at once with NS, slap bandages on them in turn to full heal the little bit they need ... I have top level Compassion so rez @ 80% HP.

With Focus and MR, a quick Divine Fury and heal followed by a bandage-self and I'm back in business. Barring the ability to NS, it's bandages all the way ... slower but safer with mobs around.

I'm also in a guild whose policy is to heal all-rez most.

And by most, we don't mean to ressurect only the people on our side. It doesn't matter who you are, we have a heal for you under a couple of minor conditions. First, you can't be a jerk. For example, the two people who spent a good 10 minutes "explaining" that I can't kill Sicarii because they were busy with their thing didn't get ressurected by me. The person who stood next to me spamming what a jerk I was for not ressurecting him despite the fact that I was full-time healing 4 different people who fought the spider and struggling for every mana point did not get a res. He would have if he waited the 5 minutes we took to kill the spider, but until then, I was busy.

Most people thank me for the life. Nobody has, in the last year, complained to me that I got them killed again. If someone resses me, I always say thank you, and usually a bit more (Thank you sooo much!)(I owe ya big!). They usually react when I say more than just "ty" as well, and always in a positive way.

I rez any ghost I see. I'll heal strangers if I see them hurt. But when I say hi to someone and they ingore me. Then they get nothing. Like againest the skeletal liches. When I use my mage I can't really ev the thing to death. So I'll cast 2 evs and bless and heal the tanks. I have been getting alot of thank you's. Because if the tank falls then my evs wont last.

Actually, my only conjurer's trinket came from such a situation. Someone was tanking with her dragon, which I kept nice and healed at the expense of not getting looting rights myself (it was just the two of us, so losing the dragon meant actually needing to use tactics, which I didn't want to do).

She gave me a trinket on the spot.

Some people make my UO days worthwhile.

I was given a bat for my heals the other day. Wasn't much. But the gesture alone was nice.

Personally...I have TY set to a macro..Yeah I die a lot. I also Rez a lot. Some times I get a TY some times not. In a safe area I Rez the person or persons and heal them up. In a Dangerous area I Rez them and then Invis. I invis because the baddies seem to target the freshly Rezed like mad!!! I then heal them when they pop back out. The Invis also help incase I get targeted myself. I can lead what ever it is away and give the other player time to recoop!!! I come back and heal the other player up if needed. Some times the other player ends up having to Rez me. LOL!! Some baddies are worse than others. IF I forget my macro, I have another that says "Thanks to whom ever Rezed me!!" set up so I can hit it when I FINALLY remember. Would HATE to be left alone with someone I neglected to thank and they decided not to Rez me a second time. I try to remember that everyone has a bad day every now and then and move on.

Funniest stuff I saw yesterday was at Sicarii. The damn spider was webbing ghosts that ran off.
