Played for almost 10 years, then quit for 3. Still using old 2d client and have a couple questions.

1. Which expansion do I need to buy in order to be up to date and will it include the prior expansions? (Seems that SA is the latest one, but there's this High Seas thing I'm not sure about. Don't really care about fishing or boats, but definately want the latest in skills, races, etc.) ML is the last expansion I bought.

2. How in the holy hell do I get out of the Help chat channel?

3. Does UOMap not work anymore or is everyone just using the in game map?

1. ML is the latest everyone has (all accounts were upgraded to it for free); Stygian Abyss is the only full-fledged expansion past it - High seas is just a minor addition for fishing, BUT you might want to get it because it includes a +25% Storage expansion. There are also the Gothic & Rustic theme packs that just add deco, some house tiles, and the ability to set up vendors to buy/sell commodities and pets in New Magincia.

2. CC: Click on "chat" on the bar, Select "Help" channel, then click on "Leave".
In the EC, I believe you can click on the chat window (one of the upper corners I think), and it will list the channels - click off the arrow for "Help".
The only channels that get much traffic usually is General, and temporary ones set up by EMs. in the CC, you can also leave "Help" by selecting "General" and clicking "Join". OF course, on most shards 75% of the General traffic is either PvP smack talk or illegal ads.
Note that if you started a new account, as long as your account is in the 14-day trial period (even if upgraded), you're stuck with just the "Help" channel.

3. IF you look on U.Hall there's UO Cartographer, which works for all facets. However, you have to have UOAssist running (even if just an expired trial version) to have UOA pass along the info to make UOC work. There are also hacked versions of UOAM around, but those are technically illegal, as only the owner is allowed to alter the code (As opposed to data files) by the old agreement. UOA also is a much more modern program, and requires NET Framework 2.0 installed (specifically 2.0 - 3.0 & 4.0 don't include the files needed, so install 1.1 and upgrade all way up through 2, 3 & 4)
Note that any custom .map files of locations you made for UOAM can be moved over into the UOC folder, and will work.

If you're on a trial account, you won't be able to leave help chat until your trial is up. It was to prevent spammers using trial accounts to spam advertisements in general chat.

Basara has a little typo. Right now all accounts are automatically updated to Mondain's Legacy so if you're on a trial account, you're upgraded to it and can make an elf. Stygian Abyss is the largest expansion which gives you access to the gargoyle race. High Seas gives you access to the new ships and a bit more ocean content while the other two just give you additional goodies, but these three don't have new races.

Just an interesting note that I was on a 14 day trial (reactivated my old account) but I was still able to leave the help channel. I did put in my credit card info and as of today I'm being charged, but I was able to leave the help channel last week while still being in the 14 day trial period.
