Hi all I am a returning player, I played since 97 right up until just after the launch of AOS. Obviously my house decayed and a lot of things have seriously changed since I last played. I was originally on Catskills and moved to Europa when it opened.

I was wondering could anyone bring me up to speed on wheres hot and wheres not, where to go to get the best loot/drops etc.

I am an Animal Tamer with 111 AT 115 AL and 115 Vet with Peace at 110.

I also have a GM Smith as well.

Thanks in advance.

Well the first thing you'll need to do is update your armor and weapons. Unfortunatly this might include your pets. If your used to hunting with a nightmare and a white wyrm your going to get trounced. Talk to some tamers and see about aquiring a super dragon. Their 5 slot pets and you'll be forced to walk everywhere, but their actually worth the 5 slots.

After that find a good rune library and check out Tokuno. Lots of good monsters and large amounts of gold to be had.

Then head over to the peerless areas and get in with a group and try these on for size. Peerless are tuff areas and should be tried in groups until you get used to them.

I'm a returning player as well.

There are many changes to get used to and it can be quite expensive.

I have had to acquire all new armor, weps, pets and mounts, just be able to take my tamer out. This also includes new clothing, jewelry, totems ex...ex...ex. I have probably spend 50 mill in the past week trying to purchase the best stuff I could find.

When you're looking for quality Mage Armor and Mage weapons w/ spell channeling costs can add up fast!

I have been having a good time hunting in some old spots, like White Wryms, Ice Feinds, Lich Lords, Bloods. These old spots don't have a lot of traffic due to all the newer areas to hunt.

I also frequient Illshenar. I like to go fight Paragon Titians. The only problem is you can't gate or recall in or out of Illshenar, you have to use the moongate. Get UOAM and check out Illshenar. You can also go to http://uo.stratics.com/content/atlas/ilshenar.shtml and read about what monsters are located where.

Also pick up a Tokuno hunting rune book and explore.

I hear great things about a dungeon in fell called Doom, but I know nothing about it, not even how to get there.

Doom is located near Umbra, in Malas, not fel. It's usually pretty well camped, decent high level spawn, artifacts to steal, bosses to kill. If your template is set up correctly there's a lot of gold and fun to be found there.

Na, na, naaa, Papa. Don't! You only need this high end stuff if you want to play in the Champions League right after the first week. I recommend to start it off slow. With your Tamer, Desease2, you should be able to control any pet in the game. Start getting two Bake Kitsunes - with Peace this shouldn't require much time. Hunting with them will help you to get into the game mechanics again. Try out the monsters you knew before but avoid Destard for now. The other Legacy Dungeons (like Despise, Shame, Hythloth... you know) are good places to start plus you get an Virtue Artifact drop from time to time.

I assume you have Magery on your template so getting a cheap LRC suit is comfortable but not necessary. Just check the loot and replace pieces of your armor one after another. No need to buy high end stuff at this time for you don't know if it's worth the price anyway.

As the further steps I suggest getting a Cu Sidhe (a very strong ridable dog with self-healing ability) and a Hiryu (weird ridable bird which do brutal damage). Rune Beetles are awesome too. Greater Dragons are the Tamers masterpiece, don't try to tame them until you have an all-70-resist suit. With these pets you can hunt strong foes with good loot. If you have all the pets you want and a Soulstone as a Vet Reward you could store Peace and raise Discording while hunting which will boost your pets' damage.

When you reach this state, try out the Onis in Tokuno. For a Tamer with a Hiryu - with Disco all the more - they are comparatively easy to hunt and give good loot. They are roughly as strong as the good old Balrons at Hythloth or at Fan Dancer Dojo (Dungeon) and give about the same loot. *edit* With a Greater Dragon you can even hunt Balrons Paragons (best at Blood Dungeon) to get so called Minor Artifacts and Treasure Chests too. Special named monsters like Miasma or Swoop are options too.

And for your Smith, start collecting Bulk Order Deeds. Try to get hold of a 120 Smith Scroll (not too expensive) and if you have enough points left raise Arms Lore as well. I'm sure as soon as Basara reads this he will tell you more about the advantages of having a smith. :D

Okay, with that lead in....

Here's a few Crafter relevant links
Crafter Help Guides - These cover all the "hard" (combat gear and/or furniture) crafting skills, and in some cases are updated sections of much older FAQs.
New Smith Guide - primarily for someone totally new to the skill, it might be useful to go through.
New Mining FAQ - there have been MASSIVE changes to mining while you were gone. You definitely need to read this.
Revised Smith FAQ - Smiths had massive changes this year, in relation to BODs (higher skill gets better BODs, and 3 years ago they made it to where you could request a new BOD immediately after turning in a filled one), and there are a lot better options for training skill than in the past (you only need to make plate for gains if you want/have to).
