Returning newb ?s (heh)

Short bio- Had two accounts (mine and wife's) we bailed first time when Item Insurance came in and killed my thief. Tried Seige, but just couldnt grind out a newb with gains being capped. My main account which had all my mules, a thunter bard, my disarm thief, a stealth alchy bomber is gone. Gave away the PW/Name to an old friend who stayed while I moved. Now on wife's account, and obviously things are much different- thus the ?s.

We were Pacific based originally, tho building most of my alts on Lake Austin as wife will play her toon and I'll again have to open another account :p (women). What I learned so far- an armorer/tailor now needs arms lore? The L6 Tmaps are in, some new rare resources are in game, and new wood.

Okie soo- What is Peerless loot and why should i care? (cant seem to find these answers). Why is a rare wood bow with mediocre mods somehow now worth 500k gp? Where is everybody? Britain is DEAD, Luna has small amount of people. Is there a new gathering/selling/spamming point? or has the game been depopulated so badly? Is it really impossible for a bard to do L6 tmaps? (think this is answered in Treasure Hunters, but asking anyhow). Never wanted to roll a tamer- but may be left with no choice, if just have to be an amazingly awesome bard thats much better, if no choice but scrolled tamer- so be it. Wife and I got a real kick out of dropping semi-high end items for the newbs on Pac in old haven, nobody there now :(

Is doom/new zones still quickest looter or auto pop in backpack? Is Fel still speed hack/roxxorz joo zone or is there some respect now? I miss the drunken tower dueling!! as well as rezzing the guy (or gal) I just dropped (or being rezzed by) and some laughs with a demanded rematch. I am now too young for my gift? Huh? Housing spots available all over? Or/And do i need to be back for a certain amount of time? Have been back a month almost, snagged some pscrolls for new toons being created on wife's account till she forces me to make my own account- .

Last question I think, cooking with KR- i can double click a stove- but no options? Do I need to find a grinding tinker to get a heating lamp? Campfires dont seem to give me an option? Would love to work the wasted skill as well as poisoning on a cooked fish steak- just cant figure out how!!

Thank you in advance, sure in couple weeks I'll come back with more questions a search doesnt reveal!

Peerless loot - gives ingredients that your mules can use to make better weps/armor. They each give out a special item (some more rare than others), some are awesome crystal ring (shimmering effusion) mark of travesty (travesty but some are blah melisande's hatchet (Mel). They can give out set armor pieces (not sure where this info located on startics I use another website for this but with startics new guidleines not certain if I can post websites name or not) most of the suits I find are decor only as you can make better armor with runic kits with your mules.

Luna is still the main selling yadda yadda site in game but with the invasion, new champ spawn items, etc most people are actually playing instead of bank sitting at present. new haven hit and miss sometimes has people sometimes not.

Lvl6 tmaps yeah they boosted some monsters awhile back I know some people still solo them if your curious how to do post in t-hunt forum I use multiple accounts now, and do with 2 chars myself just to make it simple.

Most artifacts or similar pop into your pack, for the monsters normal loot if your in a party its quickest looter - non partied each player gets own seperate loot.

Fel still speed hack/roxxorz joo zone for some but can still find some honest fights. usually safer to get a rez at a shrine than trust a rez from someone that killed you nowadays still some people that fight fair but so many that dont.

Cooking skill you need to use a skillet (can be bought or made by tinker (i think))

You need Mondain's Legacy upgrade for all the peerless stuff. (You didn't mention what edition you were running)

Mark of Travesty = 2 related skills at +10 on a Trial mask, BTW. Does wonders for most templates if you get a good one.

And the Melisande's Corroded Hatchet is only "Blah" if you don't have a lumberjack/carpenter. If you have LJ on your carpenter (and given it takes a carpenter to turn the colored logs into boards), typically a carpenter's template is so tightly strained that the 5 skill points in Lumberjacking from the Hatchet frees up 5 more points for something else important, such as in the following template.

Example supermule:
120 Tailor
100 Carpentry
95+5 (Hatchet equipped as needed) Lumberjacking
100 Tinker
100 Alchemy
100+5 Mining* (Gloves equipped for smelting)
75+(Best ASH Available) Blacksmithing (need at least 70 real for colored BODs - This character would be a BOD runner and used to make Blacksmith Add-ons, not your primary smith)
30+45 Magery (+15 event spellbook (Tome of Lost Knowledge, or the Undead slayer spellbook from this past Halloween), +15 ring, +15 bracelet - again, worn as necessary)
0+45 Music (music added via equipment as needed for instruments - is 5+40 for humans, unless you have a Mark of the Travesty with music, and that's better worn by your bard most of the time - human would take the 5 from Blacksmithing, reducing it to the 70 minimum for colored BODs)

Total: 720 for a 48 month character. If character under 48 months, those points become even more important, and will probably come from Blacksmith (using an ASH +15 or +30 to get back to the amounts needed for the add-ons)

*As this would not be your primary smith, you have several options.
1. If you have another miner, you might drop this to 95+gloves +5, or even 85+Gloves+Jacob's pickaxe (just enough for mining sand or stone, since these are now 1 stone each, and stackable, for new digs - but you'll get limited digs from the Jacob's pickaxe going for verite & valorite stone because you'll have to wait for it to recharge, or carry multiples).
2. One could also replace this skill entirely with magery or cooking, if you plan to NEVER mine your own resources with that character. Inscription no longer requires magery for normal crafting, but DOES require GM+magery (preferably 120) for the spellbooks that have additional modifiers (in which case you'd probably be swapping out alchemy & inscription as needed with soulstones - a new 1st year account bound vet reward that came out as a gift with SE, and made into a vet reward several years later).
3. If you DID make this your primary smith, you could also use soulstones to swap mining out as needed (say, with alchemy), and keep magery & Smith at GM+ all the time. Note that the gargoyle crafting/mining books read stay with the character, even if you soulstone off the skills (but can't be used until the skill is put back on).

You still can't get every crafting skill on a crafter, but you can get close, and things like the hatchet help in getting more stuff on the character. I've never seen that hatchet sell for under 500k yet, so there must be people using it (except on SP, where weapon-type items have charges when used for crafting, and that would make the hatchet worthless there)

Thank you for all the information!

Will do a more expanded search on the Peerless items see if I can gain a better understanding of it all.

Am running the latest expansions, so should have access to everything. As I am sticking to the older areas I knew and training there, perhaps will run into people exploring the new lands and finding decent training/hunting spots there.

At least have a little better handle on whats new and figuring how to fit everything on different templates. :)

Sorry was more meaning blah because with the randomization of the woods I soulstoned my LJ and just buy my wood nowadays, its so hard to find a frostwood tree and when I used to find them they would change to another wood color to quick that i couldnt get enough logs for the time involved to find said tree. While I understand the randomization I would have prefered they did like the new slime event that the woods would stay to a tree for 3 days then move then atleast it would be worthwile again to LJ. So it was more the LJ skill that has taken too big of a hit to make the hatchet worthwhile to me.

And for original poster all ore and wood spots are now randomized which means that once you empty a spot it can respawn as any type of wood/ore now meaning it is harder to get the higher end wood/ores, elves are supposed to have better chance at getting higher end wood/ores. thought I should point this out since you mentioned you have mule chars

Yeah, for Lumberjacking, it's best to find trees with high log outputs (the wood type might change, but the average yield doesn't), then recall between them and chop them. That way, if a desirable wood does come up, you'll get a lot of it.
