Returning and a bit lost

Coming back to Brittania yet again after another long absence, seems I just can't stay away. Anyway, I'm a bit unsure as to how fishing works now.

For RP reasons I created my fisherwoman with no mage skills to speak of, instead she uses a quarter staff and throws potions around a lot. I always managed to deal with everything I came across at sea easily enough; deep sea serpents were hard work but I always managed ok. Apart from fishing the only thing she does 'outdoors' is a bit of wandering and healing.

With the High Seas changes is that even worth thinking about now? Can I fish just as before and just run away from pirates or am I going to spend my whole time saying oooOOOooo? I do have a pure mage who has 100 odd skillpoints that aren't used for anything much so I could move fishing to her but I'd rather not leave my current fishing character with nothing much to do other than be a wandering healer and I can't face training fishing from scratch again.

Some advice would be welcome. I'm not looking to create the 'ultimate template' just a character I can have fun with. btw, if you see Catriana or Elana wandering around please say hi. I don't think anyone I used to know is active anymore.

Thanks

Cat.

Welcome back. I have yet to encounter a pirate while fishing. The pirates are there when you sail around but if you avoid the main pirate places like Jhelom you will be pretty save. You don't have to fight pirates if you don't want to.

Fishing is the same as before. No tougher monsters. YOu just need HS booster to get the new fish. Else your pack will be messed up with unstackable fish.

PS: Potion fishing = dynamite fishing. Shame on you. ;)

My fisher is a ninja stealth herding fisher, just so she can go into places like labyrinth and move the reptalons out of the way and leave the pool clear for a bit. Also makes fishing in places like twisted weald that bit easier as she can stealth in and out past the beasties that would otherwise turn her into a snack!

The new fish do stack, It's the old ones that don't stack, the 4 'a fish' fish.

And if you don't have HS you only catch those.

There's nothing wrong with ninja stealth herding fisher folks - very useful template. Just ask anyone who needs to tame a GD!
Bet its hard to tame anything, with Just Ninja, Stealth, Fishing & Herding. But i can see how it would be usefull...:coco:

It's very useful when working with other people. Someone in our alliance found a GD to tame; over 4 on the pet calc. But it was in amongst a number of other dragons and GD's. I was able to bring it to a spot by Destard entrance, then move everything else away from there, leaving him a clear field to honour tame it on the first attempt.

When fishing, it's useful to be able to shift a lot of stuff about; reptalons in Labyrinth when after bullfish, for example.

And when the hell hounds were about, I just bumped Oaks to level two, then rounded up stacks of Ki'rin while the guildies spawned a hell hound. Job done./

If you can tame it, you can herd it. With a little imagination, stealth herding fishers can have all sorts of fun :)
