So, I'm back and I bought SA. I now am not sure where to start, what's fun, what's popular, where people are congregating etc.

So what are the hot spots? Where can I go and what can I do to get the hottest new items? Any links, walkthroughs and/or maps would be greatly appreciated!

Btw, on LS. Anyone who wants to do a fun (re)orientation sometime I'd totally be down.

I have a tamer, mage/necro, and a dexxer all decently equipped.

Thanks!!~!

I'm right there with you bro. I restarted my account a few months ago but only began to play in the past 2 weeks or so.

If you're on atlantic, I'll be happy to show you what Ive discovered thus far.

my first SA adventures were with my tamer. A chiv archer is nice too. To start out its good to explore The Underworld. this is the entrance to the abyss from fire island. here you can get your key to enter the abyss (need one per char). Trying all the spawns in the abyss is fun when its new, be sure to loot anything you dont recognise!

UO Consists of 4 things now:

1 - IDOC watching as 5-6 houses fall per day (18x18s)
2 - About 10 people yew gate fighting and yelling obsinities at each other in chat
3 - Navery in the new dungeon that drops new apron very rarely and has 15 min spawn timer.
4 - Can't think of a 4th....

UO is as dead as I've ever seen it. I'm on GL and it almost scares me when I come across someone else in game.

We've been working hard to update Stratics with all the info you'll need. Please explore the listings from the menus on http://uo.stratics.com.

So far today I've picked up and hunted imbuing ingredients with my tamer (gaining .6 magery on my dread warhorse). Used those to craft and then imbue some new luck/lrc parts for her suit, made some natural dyes to dye the suit with. Watered plants, crafted various items, stocked them on my vendors. Taking time out to mod the boards, tidy up the pages for this week's Stratics update and answer icq/msn and pm messages.

Saw another thread like this not too long ago... Serafi from Europa made a relevant post in that thread... here is a snippet:

I think you may suffer from wowitis, a horrible condition that makes you less able to provide the content yourself. But no need to panic! The condition can be cured
And

UO is a sandbox in which you decide what to do at any given time. That means setting up a few goals for yourself not given to you by gamemechanics. "Go to X area and kill Y amount of Z critters" type of thing. If you are roaming the world looking for others to provide that stimulating content, be it GMs,EMs or other players, UO will fail to entertain you - as you will not be able to entertain yourself. You might have to relearn how to play in that sandbox. Try out different things, see what kind of playstyle you enjoy the most, what activities you like doing. What kind of UO player are you, what do you prefer to do with your time? What kind of short-term goals do you want to have?
Ok.. so maybe it dosnt fit all that well on your post, but I just think it sums up what some people fail to understand about UO when they are "bored" :)

Welcome back btw :)

Hmm, maybe that is just Great Lakes...

I play on Atlantic (just came back after not playing for a number of years) and run across people frequently, sometimes out in the middle of nowhere. I generally find large congretations of people in Luna and New Haven. Smaller groups I find at Brit and occasionally other banks. The Abyss and Underworld have players in them consistently, and I even run across other players semi-often in the regular trammel dungeons.

I am part of the RP community on Atlantic, so one of the fun things to do, as you might guess, is RP if you're into it. It seems pretty healthy here thus far, and the community is sizable enough. Hell, I have even met some new people and made some new friends recently.

IDOC camping does seem fairly popular, but then again, it always was. It means free loot, so of course people will want to do it!

I can't speak much on the PvP in Felluca aspect of things as I haven't been there, but Yew gate fighting seems popular. There seems to be a fair amount of PvP (or ganking at times, depending on how you look at it) at Champ spawns as well.

My advice for having fun in UO now is this: Find a new group of friends and just do whatever tickles your fancy. Just romping through the Abyss with a few guildies is enough to be entertaining. Even better if you get a bigger group and take on the Slasher of the Veil ;)

Anyway, if you find your way over to Atlantic, let me know :)
Have fun!

Did you try posting on the LAKE SUPERIOR shard Forum [http://vboards.stratics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=54] ?

It might a good place to start looking for guidance and who knows, perhaps even meeting some old friends...........

S/he's better off in UHall... other than the postings for the weekly hunts and community gatherings (thank you very much, OSR et al), the place is a cess pool of name calling, smack talking, garbage.

You should make sure to visit the SA forum (http://vboards.stratics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453) and the UO Craftsman Forum (http://vboards.stratics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=417). The #1 thing any player wants to do upon upgrading to SA, is to train up his/her imbuer. Imbuing has become a vital neccessity (at least as far as pvp is concerned).
