Restore Magincia!

I do realize that, for many, this isn't a big deal if it ever gets changed or not, buuuut...

Isn't it time to restore Magincia? I realize that, at some time, it WILL happen... but could it possible be sooner than later? Pretty please with a piece of cake?

It's funny to see posts when there is a one night battle near someone's home and they complain about recall. Some of us who own plots on Magincia have been dealing with possible recall death for almost two years! If it wasn't the spirits, it was the light daemons and other assorted monsters. After a while, recalling into as many as 4 spirits wanting to eat your soul gets a little tedious.

I'm not sure how hard it is to world build a few huts and a 'simple looking' town. I know that we are probably getting that, which is fine. I'm just wondering how much more waiting is needed.

You're not getting any of my pieces of Magincia back. I stole them from the town fair and square.

Dont worry, theres plenty of stone in Luna we can use.
Just need to free it up first, anyone got a huge piece of blackrock we can use for a good cause :)

Oh, I should also add that since the first invasion all Magincia homes are unable to be resized or placed... they are all considered 'improperly placed' anymore.

Someone else can probably fill in the details a bit more than this, but in the Ultima Prime lore, Magincia was destroyed once and rebuilt as "New Magincia".. I'm kind of hoping that follows through in the UO lore.

And I agree.. enough playing around.. time to fix the place up. Have some kind of shard wide event, where we donate wood, iron, stone, etc to rebuild the place, similar to the library/museum/zoo donations, and have the city slowly be rebuilt at the pace of the donations.

If its still like it is so that people can continue to get threads, then find some reason to move those spirits elsewhere (maybe a cave system beneath the island). But its time to move forward on this one.. 2 years is way too long for people to have been forced out of their homes for the sake of the story line.

My memory may be faulty but I seem to remember that cleansing Magincia of the wandering spirits was supposed to be going towards restoring Magincia.

If that is the case, as thousands of the damned things have been exorcised now, it is certainly time something was done about renewing Magincia.

Can we do it before next weekend? Or can I get a giant force field around the Beach for a few days?

I agree that it's certainly time to start evicting the ghosts and rebuilding. Surely we have "saved" enough of the souls there.

Maybe they forgot about it ? :( I agree way overdue to be fixed, its lasting as long as the Yew swamping plague, and well that hole in downtown Moonglow is even longer overdue to be fixed up too. hrmmmmmmmmmmm

They rebuilt Haven and look what happened there. Maybe we should leave well enough alone regarding Magincia. ;)

The whole time I was typing that I was thinking the same thing. Its going to take a builder who actually cares about what he's doing, to rebuild Magincia and have it look like a real UO town should.

No Luna builders, no New Haven builders, no thanks.

If the designers would look at the original towns, they'd note that the original builders tried to include as much detail as they could, leaving some buildings for just ambience (often used by Seers and EMs). The original cities had a certain theme or at least had unique areas based on their locale. Everything wasn't crammed into a small area. It mostly kept the same overall design pallette, throughout the city. But most importantly, they were designed as if they were actual working towns.. there were homes, inns, taverns, banks (that actually had vaults, not just chests sitting in the middle of an open air space like in Luna), civic buildings (libraries, theatres, guard houses, museums, NPC guild halls, etc.)

Most of the newer cities (though Zento wasn't so bad) look like they were rushed through, by someone who had never even seen the original cities.. that's definitely something that needs to be avoided here. Oh, and for crying out loud, please no more ridiculously hilly landscapes, its just annoying to ride across them.. and very rare to see anything even close to them in real life. Remember designers, you're recreating what is supposed to represent a real world, design accordingly!
