RNG sucks. Plain and simple. It sucks even more in a resource gathering environment. I'd like to propose a new method of finding rare ores and woods:
When using the mining skill by action(like using eval int to actually eval something) you would be able to determine the type of veins/wood available to you on the current screen. This could be done as a flash or cursor and would let the miner/lumberjack know where a particular color of ore is located. This could be done in conjuction with a new item. A valorite/verite/copper surveyor's kit or whatever.
This type of system would take the RNG and utter annoyance out of looking for ore/wood and wouldn't promote the now infamous "mining" or(dare I say)"jacking in a circle" to get the resources one needs now. This would only server the purpose of saving time and if done correctly wouldn't benefit scriptors but instead(GASP!) benefit players actually at the keyboard.
Thoughts?
