Resizing...

I know this has been asked before, but I cant find the thread.

There was an IDOC today in malas, and I placed a small house in the space where an 18x18 will fit (someone messed up and I got an extra chance, but placed too small).

I already have a house. I wasn't worried about losing the old one because it is smaller than 18x18.

My first question is this: Do you have to wait a week to resize a house you placed? Could I resize it now?

My 2nd question: This is the one I thought I had seen in the other thread...it was something about having an hour to resize the house..?

Does that mean that I have one hour to myself to resize the house, or do I have to worry about someone else coming in and placing within that hour?

The old house will be traded to someone else, so I'm also a bit worried about getting everything out of the old one before it goes idoc. I'm sure some of my guildmates or my gm would help with holding some of the items if I needed.

I'd also like to know what to expect when resizing the house and any other advice would be appreciated.

Thank You!

From my experiences with the new rules you need to drop or trade your original condemed house before you try to resize the new one!

You do have an hour timer from the time you drop a house, till the time you can resize or drop a 2nd time.

I placed a house on Cats about a month back.I did this.

1: place new house which condemned 1st one
2:moved all items from original (condemned house) to another house, either yours or a house you're friended/coowner.
3:then dropped condemned house
4:waited an hour then resized new house and then moved in

I had another house on a 2nd account so it made the process alot easier.

How to lose 2 houses in one day:

Go to an idoc.

Place small house, with plans to build a bigger one in the space alloted.

This condemns the house you've had for a month or two.

Try to resize house. (I got the little message about the hour and stuff dropping and whatnot.)

For some reason, get message telling you that you have to wait 167 hours before you can place a new house in your new space that you were supposed to have an hour to resize in.

Someone else places there after the hour is up.

Idk WHY there wasn't some message telling me that I would not be able to resize my house due to time restrictions before I did it.

If you didn't drop the original house before you tried to resize, this is probably why you couldn't replace after the 1hr.

This is the part I've seen comments about before.
Once you place that new plot, you must and I mean must drop the original (condemned house) before trying a resize.
If you don't more than likely it won't let you place during the resize.

Just to add,:( that you lost that house.
Thanks... I'll get over it, I'm pretty sure. Stuff happens and we make mistakes. Hopefully someone can learn from mine...

There wasn't anybody on that had a house that I could move my belongings to, and I severely misunderstood the importance of that one step. I still don't understand why you would need to do that, nor why it I wouldn't have gotten some in-game message about not being able to resize, but its too late to worry bout that. Back to square one again :p

Thank you for helping, LordWinters :)

I think what happens is if you don't drop the original (condemned house) 1st,before trying a resize, the system sees you as trying to place a 3rd house.

I agree with the posters above.Just get rid of house#1 and resize the new plot.
We all know Uo doesn't allow us to own more than one home thus of course you wouldn't be able to resize a second plot unless getting rid of plot #1 as for the timer..what most people liek yourself don't understand is.. [IT'S FOR RECIEVING A HOME ONLY NOT FOR PLACING]!!!!! Anyone can place all day long granted you have to wait 1 hr between drops and also not own a home.

Just a lil FYI!
