Resizing a House

Anyone have experince with resizing a house? Land has freed up around my home, enough to make mine twice as large.

1. How is it done?

2. What happens to all the stuff in your house? Moving crate?

everything in your house drops to the ground, and can be picked up by anyone, so bank it and put it on packies/boats to be safe

the resize option is only to hold the plot for you alone to place on for a short period of time, nobody else can come along and drop a house on your resize plot, but your current house is demolished, it's not like a customization change

to do it, just stand at your house sign and speak "I wish to resize my house"

This is exactly why resizing is NOT an option for me, as my current house is completely full of stuff and moving it all (I couldn't even fit it on 5 packies) is entirely too much of a pain to bother. :-/

I'm glad the resize option exists, but for example I'm not going to bother with mine to get the extra 2 tiles of space that I can get. Might be worth it for a more significant resize. *wishes everything could just go into moving crates...*

yes as she stated..once you resize your home.. land is all yours for a 1 hr period after that anyone can place in that spot. So goodluck and happy placing.!!

Does the same happen if you change your house from a larger town to a customize house (16x14)? Well you items drop to the ground?

as far as I know, no housing type is exempt from the process..... resize and everything drops, just like a house fall

Is there a time limit in between house sizing? Example, I placed today at an IDOC. The house I placed was signifigantly smaller than plot, so I went to resize and was told I couldn't even though the house I had just placed was gone. Finally, it allowed me to place, but it would not allow me to make multiple attempts and the house is still too small. So, do I need to wait awhile longer to attempt another resize?

Has anyone done this lately? I've owned a house for two weeks that I want to resize, but when I use the "I wish to resize my house" command when standing under the house sign.. nothing happens.

Is the command turned off? Am I doing something wrong? Is my house borked? *sigh*

Plot is empty, nothing in the moving crate...

Since I didn't get an answer to my question, I took a chance and played around with resizing again last night. However, my problem (as noted above) was different than yours. My house disappeared as it was supposed to, so I'm not sure why yours won't. But, I had to wait over 20 mins each time I tried to resize before it would allow me to place the newly sized plot. No idea what is going on and can't seem to find any info. Sorry.

My house disappeared as it was supposed to, so I'm not sure why yours won't. But, I had to wait over 20 mins each time I tried to resize before it would allow me to place the newly sized plot. it's 15 min timer between drops not 20.
