I do have the skill.how about we make it so you actually have to HAVE the skill to reveal anyone?
Umm what?Against because of ever reoccurring PKer issues with idiots joining alliances just to ruin others play.
She's replying to the guy who posted after you I would assume.Umm what?
What does being able to use the skill without revealing your guildmates/alliance mates have to do with people PKing anyone?
?I had another thought about.
First of all, why not use tracking instead of reveal to hunt others down?
Also some guilds or alliances that do rp have enemy roles inside their own circle for reasons of simplicity.
I really can't see a reason to have it changed.
Ok I am asking that the person NOT be able to reveal the hidden guildmates/alliancemates with the detect hidden skill (outside of a house) as they are presently able to do so.She's talking about griefers who join guilds and alliances in order to kill the members of that guild/alliance. That is why she is against the request. Of course, said person could just as easily be removed from the guild/alliance but not all members have the authority to do that.
use tracking first to figure out the spot where they're hiding, even if you only have the 20 points JOAT skill, since it's significantly boosted by your detect hidden skill it should work eaily against a gm hiding, 120 stealth person (lovely aint it, 100 points in detect negates 220 points of skill w/ those of us who know how to use it)?
Tracking doesn't help with getting a person who is hidden unless you have a way to bring them out of hiding another way. Unless you're proposing a change. Would be neat idea to see them combine tracking and detect into one skill.
er, yeah. Wasn't reading the post correctly. Thought it was suggested to use tracking instead of detect. Which it was not. But yeah you are right. However I have used JOAT tracking with 100 detect. It works on a 120 stealther, however it isn't as easy as you might think. Takes several tries sometimes to get them. Still works though.use tracking first to figure out the spot where they're hiding, even if you only have the 20 points JOAT skill, since it's significantly boosted by your detect hidden skill it should work eaily against a gm hiding, 120 stealth person (lovely aint it, 100 points in detect negates 220 points of skill w/ those of us who know how to use it)
now that you have the exact spot, reveal them, you don't need to spam it everywhere, so as long as your guildmate isn't standing right next to them you're fine.
I agree with the above ^^ I always tell the guild in Vent if I am about to reveal an area and look at the map to see if there are any guildies near by first.Flutter, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one!
When I use my detectors around guild and alliance mates, I try very hard to make sure I'm in TeamSpeak or Ventrillo with them to give them a heads up when I'm about to detect. My detectors also have tracking, so that usually helps me to have an idea of who is in the area. I've always felt that having to speak up and give a warning about getting ready to reveal helped me to feel more of a member of the team, rather than someone who could just use skills willy-nilly without regard to their possible effect on guild mates.
I have also learned that it is sometimes useful to be able to detect guild and faction mates on purpose. For example, if they went AFK while hidden during a long long guarding session and aren't responding and you're about to be raided. In that case, there will be times when the guild leader or person in charge will say, go ahead and detect so-and-so and kill them just to make sure they don't go into skill loss or lose points. Or say they went AFK while hidden in front of a very important chest in your guild house or are hidden and blocking something else that others need to get to. Sometimes you just have to take some kind of action quickly! And as others have pointed out, if you have a griefer in your midst, especially if it is an alliance member that your guild leaders and emissaries have no control over, it may be very important to be able to detect such person so someone can "take care of them."
Anyway, those are my arguments, for whatever they're worth, for not changing the skill so it no longer works on guild and alliance mates.
I agree if the individual doesn't have Detect Hidden. Passive detect shouldn't work if they don't have the skill.Detect hidden is fine and doesn't need changed on who it detects.
I think passive reveal sucks though. I'd be ok with getting rid of this.
