Last night a number of citizens of the Vesper Empire gathered outside the Swaggers to hear a speech prepared by Empress Anna Goodward; and what a shocking speech it was. An angry Miss Goodward announced that Vesper was going to return to a Free Republic ruled by a council we the head of that council, the governor of Vesper being publically elected in 2 weeks time. However she also unleashed her wrath and anger of the events that lead to this point. She spoke of the cloak and dagger actions of Redguard Commander Escaflowne and Governor of Minoc Devante Stirling behind the scenes over the past few weeks in an attempt to remove her from power.
After the Empress had finished her speech, she tossed her crown into the sea. The crowd looked around in confusion and many questions were raised. They turned to Escaflowne and a conveniently absent Devante Stirling for answers. Escaflowne struggled quite badly to explain himself but the jist of the explanation was that himself and Devante were concerned the Empress's position was compromised due to an accused relationship with a man from the Yewish Guardsmen Militia; which Anna always denied and Escaflowne and Devante could not prove. They felt that this would allow influence from Yew on Vesper politics and that classified information could be leaked to Yew making it a threat to Vesper's security. They wanted Anna to step down from power and return Vesper to a free Republic, with Escaflowne declaring martial law and the Vesper Redguard taking control of Vesper until the elections.
There were a number of talks and a meeting held behind the scenes to resolve the situation which came to an uneasy agreement with certain conditions. The meeting consisted of the proposed Council of 5 to rule the republic, the publicaly elected Governor of Vesper and leader of the council, The governor of Cove, The Governor of Minoc, The head of the Vesper Trading Company and the Head of the Military which is the Redguard Commander.
After hours of bad blood and arguments, the five eventually agreed to return Vesper to a Free Republic under the conditions that Anna would hold onto power until the elections and no attempt at martial law would be made, Escaflowne and Devante would be cleared of all charges of treason and Devante would be stripped of his governorship of Minoc and would never be allowed to have a seat on the council till the end of his days.
Escaflowne then tried to move on quickly and speak about Vesper's future that we must all be united to push forward with.
