Renowned Wyvern and karma

I have been searching for informations on something which I find odd.

Karma loss/gain at the Renowned Wyvern mini-champ spawn....

First, I find it unusual that one looses Karma for attacking the Fairy Dragons at the start of the spawn which they look "grey" to the attacker.

Oh well, after all grey ain't red and so it can make some sense that one might loose karma attacking them. Alright.
Though, since there is nothing else to attack, one is forced to attack them in order to advance the spawn and so, it is unavoidable to loose karma even if one did not want to.

Oh well......

Then the spawn advances and the forgotten servants spawn. They are blue to the player and so one might think they are friendly. Big mistake. They may look blue but they attack players on sight and what is even more odd, upon killing them one gains karma ???

So let's see what we got here, attacking grey fairy dragons looses karma while attacking blue servants gains karma ???

Sure, there is always the option to let the servants attack as first and they get flagged grey as aggressors but being a Trammel ruleset spawn I do not see much the point to wait for them to make the first move.

Anyways, just trying to find some logic in this karma loss /gain rationale.

Anyone has any idea ?

I agree, servants should not be 'blue'.
I also think Anything generated in doing those spawns should give negative karma - they don't from the fairies on the other side of the dungeon, why here?

Here's another:
You have a ton of 'loyalty' to the Ophids, but lose karma if you drop gold on them(the buy/sell ones).

That is not the point and not even needed.

Attacking fairy Dragons = karma loss

Attacking Forgotten Servants = karma gain

End result = karma losses/gains evens out.....

The point of my post is trying to find out the underlying logic.

Why attacking a grey target looses Karma and attacking a blue target gains karma...

The answer is that sometimes, a boss called "The Forgotten Troll" comes out.

In the event, unlikely event I should specify, that one is able to kill him (he is a fearsome opponent), there is a rare book on him that explains all.

You will never see this book for sale; it is timered and, unless locked down in a house before the timer is out, it goes poof, causing 125 points of damage to the person holding it.

The Forgotten Troll, unlike here, is a rare spawn, so much so that rumor has it he did not spawn once during the entire Stygian Abyss beta. It's likely the 125 points of damage is a bug.

Also the timer on the book is very short, such that it's nearly impossible to get it to a house before it goes poof.

The book is called "Tales of the Troll."

Does he use the old plague beast mechanic of the more "fed" he is the stronger he becomes?

Actually no; he has the Slasher "wander around" code, except that the tether appears to be long-since broken. He will just keep trolling and trolling and trolling perpetually, pretty much no matter what one does, so one may as well have some fun.

You are asking the wrong people. Only the DEV that designed this can tell you what you are asking. We are not DEVs, we are PLAYERS and have no clue why they do things the way they do them. Why not submit a questions to the DEVs as they are the ones that design what happens in UO, not the PLAYERS.

It's possible that some player might have some insight on this system to share with the others here. That is all that is being asked for here.

I have wondered the same thing about that area myself.

Well, first because last time I asked a question to that Forum on a fishing issue it was like a month and a half ago and I have yet to hear anything so, my personal experience has not been much succesfull asking a question that way and second, because it could be that someone else already might have brought this issue up and received an official answer.

Unless I asked it in the Forums there is no way I could possibly know.

Actually Popps, I asked about this a long time ago (right after i killed my 1st fairy dragon), and the response I got actually made sense, once it was explained to me.

However, now that I know the reasoning, it kind of takes a little of the "magic" out of this particular spawn for me, and I am not sure everyone would appreciate me giving this information out.

I will say, take a very hard look at the area this spawn occurs (actually, the specific area the fighting occurs and the castle/building area just west). The answers are in there if you look hard enough.
