remove refinements?

Is there a way to remove the refinements on a piece of armor?

Yeah you apply the opposite one. So if you applied a deflective one, you would use a reinforced one.

I don't think that is correct,

to my knowledge, you can't remove them, however you can apply a different refinement which will override any existing refinement.

The Black Smith is correct, you cant technically remove refinement on one piece, but easiest way to nullify refinements effects would be to have 2 piece refined, one with 'defense' deflecting so -1 physical resist exemple, and the second armor piece with reinforced 'of defense' with +1 physical resist
