remove armor refinement?

is there a way to remove the armor refinement from a piece?

I don't think you can.

Possible to balance it out with a refinement of the opposite type on another piece? Of course then you have to FIND that, and, well, good luck.

Yea I don't think you're able to remove refinements from armor currently, never tried to add mage armor to a refined piece though, but then again the piece would need 4 properties or less to do that. =/

I think you can at least "lower" the refinement but applying a weaker refinement. That still leaves you with at least -1 dci or at least -1 max resist

I have never confirmed it works though, just read it somewhere.

As Ender said, you need to balance it with refinements of the opposite effect. If you have a lot of refinements going, you may find it easiest to re-refine a few pieces with Defense, then do the others with Defense of the opposite effect.
