Regarding the orcs in Britain Sewers...

Had a very interesting trip, not a journey for the fainthearted, this one - but it seems rather relevant to the current EM storyline so may be worth sharing ;)

Excellent idea from Bunnie, we went exploring Brit sewers, and with assistance from Pale Rider, we remembered how to get into the 'Deep Sewer' - which is currently rather full of orcs. For those who can't remember the way, or fancy a look,

NW of the sewer is a signpost - at that say the word Charvory. Be ready for a LOT of damage....

You drop into a straight looking corridor - full of acid. Appearances are deceptive, you can't run straight along it, you need to weave along taking damage all the way.... and at the end is a ladder -

Which drops you right onto 2-3 acid elementals! This is another straight passage, luckily you can run right along it to another ladder...

Which drops you in a room absolutely heaving with orcs of every type. We did find this spawn controllable with two fighters cross-healing a lot, once you get the initial crowd thinned out it's quite possible to keep things to survivable levels. Bring lots of bandages... I went through 250 or so.

In that room there is a very windy pathway, with only a couple of steps to get you back on it. VERY easy to fall off into the green liquid, which isn't harmful of itself but you have to run back to some steps to get back on the path - line of sight in that entire room is hideous, teleport won't work because you are too near steps, wrong level, no LOS and so on. Healing magic might be useful, if you have a health bar to cast it on, but I'd not like to rely on it in there.

Work your way to a lever on the East wall, by which are a small set of steps - steps like those are the only way to get out of the green liquid, so watch very closely and remember where they all are!

Carefully wind your way along the path, you'll finally reach a stone 'bridge', which has the middle section missing. And this is where we're stuck....

Across that broken bridge is another section of path, leading to a ladder. But we couldn't get there, it looks like you need to do something to put the bridge section that's 'fallen' back into place. The lever, mentioned above, looked a prime possibility, but didn't seem to do anything.

So - if anyone remembers how to get across, please shout out! And if anyone fancies looking around for themselves... it's hideously tricky, take friends, cross heal like mad, and don't blame me for the insurance costs or lost kit when or if (actually, I do think it's when in that place...) you die ;)

You can, however, recall out - but with two fighters we couldn't test gate, or mark a rune. Somehow, I suspect it's a 'no rune marking' area though.

Many thanks to Bunnie for the idea to look there, Pale Rider for helping me remember the way in, and both for keeping me alive on the trip!

glad you had fun exploring the old event places. Sad to tell you though that the bridge cannot be repaired, it broke during the event. I have a rune that can be used to access the other side though, although be prepared for a possible welcome commity of an unfriendly nature. :stretcher: The runes in a red runebook on a desk on the top floor of my house (Guards rest) The rune books at the bottom of the pile of runebooks and is called 2006 Royal Britannian Guards, the rune your looking for is called safe sewer area (well as safe as you can get in there anyways). I hope this helps

Thanks Flame - didn't remember the bridge getting broken, I'll give that rune a try though, since I'm reasonably confident the recent mention of orcs underground and the attack 'on the heart of the kingdom' should (at least morally!) link to those orcs in the sewers!

This is definitely a bad place for mages. I went with my Necro/mage and although I tried all sorts of places was unable to cast an EV. I tried to flame an OrcBrute while standing right next to it just to get the message that I was unable to see the target. I mean the damn thing must be 20ft tall and I couldnt see it?.

I died on the way in going along the acid passage so anyone going there needs to be prepared for some serious damage moving along that passage.

All in all, not a happy experience for a mage as generally speaking your skills seem largely useless. I had to leave Aurelius and Bunnie to it.

But Aurelius is right it was a long time since I was there and I cant remember hordes of Orc Brutes there and it could be this is something to do with the current orc problem and their stated intention to attack the heart of the city.

I found the "you cannot see" thing a total pain during the event as not only could you not cast but it prevented you from hearing what was being spoken unless you were standing right next to the person. And it made being a provoing bard totaly useless as you had to stand on the target to see it. Only thing I could do was cast eles, do guard me and pre cast invis, go stand on whatever you want to attack and get ready to invis to get your ele to attack. I'm not sure if it still works but even if it does you still need others down there to help.

your idea of checking brit sewers is even more logical when you consider what happened in there in the first place. It was the escape route for the kidnappers of Inu and they managed to creat a moongate into Ishena down there. Perhaps the remains of the collaped moongate has given the orcs or mericles etc an insight into producing the recent moongates. Lets hope they do not manage to develope gates into Ishena too.
