Reforge has me lost!

Well today I tried learning about reforging. I studied the info from stratics and uoguide. For the most part I understand it, but luck has me totally lost! No matter what I do I cannot get more than 90-100 luck on an item, yet I see players with 190 luck items. Can I not use a barbed kit for trying high luck with high resists? I can't even get the option "auspicious /of fortune" to light up using a barbed kit. Can I only use a spined kit? Which I tried and cannot get above 90-100 luck. What am I doing wrong this time? :(

Well with tailoring its a bit tricky. You need horned kit with auspicious of fortune no powerful reforge, then choose either wizardry or defense package

Runic hammers are way easier. Copper hammer auspicious powerful reforge

for leather, use horned kits to select auspicious

it WILL get extra mods beneath the 150 luck, either hope it to be something you can use or use 2 names to narrow it down to something you'll like aglong (for example "defense" package for resists)

You use horned runic sew kit (no power re-forging) then get the point you pick auspicious/fortune package. Usually I choose 2nd package of defense for resists. Best pieces you will get should hit 150 base luck and hit high in one resist. Powder piece up and imbue. Last use forged tool of artifacts for 100% success to enhance with spined leather for 190 luck. You will also use up many horned kits to get the right pieces a lot will not hit 150 luck as it is random.
Hope that helps and good luck with it.

K back to the drawing board I go, with a horned kit! Still lost why we can use a spined and horned for luck, but not barbed. And I see above that it's mentioned to imbue, so we are allowed to still imbue as long as we have not reached max weight on pieces that we have reforged? Interesting.

Ohhh, I see now! Got exactly what you said Mr Bug, Thank you! Using a horned kit I got a piece with 150 luck and 22 in energy. So now I would go imbue (pof first of course) up to max weigh with what I needed/wanted then enhance with spined leather for the extra 40 luck to get to 190...correct?

Asking for help here is a good start. Pool your experience and use suggestions
Hop on test and start burning those 30k use kits.
I don't consider it a hassle to set up there at all.

Yes I experimented on test! I think I got it now, finally! The luck part had me lost because I only tried with a spined and barbed kit, didn't even think to try horned. I see we make the best pieces by choosing all options and using 10 charges, but after making several pieces I see they really don't come with a lot of durabily at all! Do players use this much with the risk of having to remake the "same or close" pieces all over a again at some point?

You can use powder of fortifying on them. Just make sure to do this before imbuing.

10 charges also seems a lot for horned. From memory when I made leather luck parts it was 4 charges a pop. I used the fortune package with either of defence or wizardry.

While I don't play much, if at all, I just wanted to mention that I think you need to use a enhancement tool to get 190 luck as the total weight is over the in game cap. This is something you might want to explore before you poof the peice.

You enhance (using spined if leather) right at the very end of the whole process.

This will bump a crafted 150 luck part up to 190.

powder of fort is your friend. 255 durability lasts forever unless you play uo too much.

the reason some options are only available on horned / spined is to add value for those kits. otherwise the only use for them would be to get simple overcapps like mana regen 3.

But I don't see a brittle item even with 255 durability lasting long in PvP, or really PvM?

oh i didnt think you meant brittle, didnt see the 10 charge part. yeah no one would really do that unless they were really broke and wanted to use mid level hammers for brittle gear.

brittle on leather is a waste. on metal at least you can enhance it to

Can anyone confirm this for me? Must a enhancement tool (the one you buy from origin store) be used to get to 190 luck? Or can I risk just enhancing and chance it breaking?

Another example of how crafting has become much too complex, this thread may as well be written in Greek.

It's really not that hard when you start actually applying the knowledge and tables :) it is like going to college and then actually working using that gained knowledge. The classes always seem overwhelming to me in comparison to the actual application of knowledge.

I wouldn't even bother. Just get a tool and do that job property. The parts will have to high intensity after imbuing and as Kojak states they just gonna break!

it'll break 999 times out of a 1000 - you have to buy the forged metal of artifacts

Yes. Unless someone happens to have billions and billions of gold to spend on kits, and hours and hours to craft, it's worth a buck a charge to buy the forged tool. I have to say it was a great idea to generate a little revenue.
