Redesign Time!

Hey all, I'm back from a small break (ok, it was a decent sized break) and I'm looking to redesign my home. Currently I've got a "fallen tower" theme going on...dungeon on the main floor with a hidden entrance, small fishing shack and the ruined tower on 2nd and third floors. It's cool...might take a couple pictures before tearing it down.

Anyway, I'm thinking of a new design. I'd like to include an indoor Archery Range, a trophy room, a shop for my miner / blacksmith, and a tackle room for my fisher. Maybe a mage study as well. I'm not sure of the configuration though. I'd like to have the shop and tackle room separate from the rest of the house...but I've only got 18x18 to work with

Any suggestions?

Could try doing a two-story shed for the tackle room/shop. Smithy downstairs, fishing upstairs. I managed this for a one-story blacksmith shed on my second-to-last design, and as long as the shed is in 'front' of the house, it looks good. Mine was a 4x5 shed on an 18x18 plot, and it was crowded but put everything within reach for my crafter!

'nother idea would be to connect the tackle room and/or shop as lean-tos on the sides of the house, either with just a roof held up by beams or a nice little enclosed addition, just with the door on the outside rather than entering through the rest of the house. Using a different wall tile for those parts can set them off more, if you decide to enclose them.

Oooor, since you're already working with a "hidden" first floor, you could set the blacksmith area down there in one of the corners, but enclose it entirely and put a small fishing shack on the 2nd floor above it, with stairs to enter the smithy below.

I'll try to dig up the picture of my house with the shed, so you can see how small it was and how it worked with the rest of the plot.

The shack was eventually switched to wood walls, with the same layout. It managed to hold a Hearth of the Home fire, an anvil, a stool, some deco and several chests!
