Hello,

I have recently came back to UO after many years away and wonder with all the changes in the "rares" system what can I lock down in a house? Is anything unsafe to lock down? Will anything disappear after a while even if locked down? I remember back in the day some stuff even when locked down would decay. Is there a list somewhere of what I can and can't lock down, what can stay in my bank, house, etc? Thanks for the help.

Generally speaking, any of the 'newbied' items (that is, blessed without saying blessed on the item properties) cannot be locked down without them very soon decaying. Examples include player named heads/body parts, very old holiday gifts that do not say 'blessed' on them, old beginner's items (good way to test this stuff is to pile it all on a new character and go die, that's what I do) such as fishing poles, sextants, reagents, clothing, etc. Also included are most named rings from special occasions (weddings mostly).

Items such as original house deeds cannot be on your character when logging off or shard transferring or they revert to a house placement tool (worthless).

Oh, and don't drop any food rares onto a pack animal.... they will eat instead of bagging it... even stacks of 60,000.

Lastly, 'I wish to secure this' has replaced 'I wish to lock this down' as the phrase of choice for everything, not just chests.

Great, thanks for that info. Also is there a list somewhere of what is considered "illegal" now? I would hate to come back after all these years and get banned for something that is now illegal.

I have an old black dye tub from before the vet rewards. Can it be locked down safely or can someone change it? It doesn't say blessed or vet reward on it.

Also what about the daily stuff, like the jars, fruit basket, etc are they safe to lockdown? While I'm at it can those still be picked up daily?

In practice only the tiles, pets and portable forge would probably see any gm response.

You won't get banned unless caught with a pack full of valorite runic hammers or other things that do not occur in quantity. Obviously, you would know what you are doing if you possessed something like that, so there is nothing to worry about.

Black dye tubs from long ago are bugged but are now legitimate and can not be changed even with permissions set to 'anyone.' No problem.

Dailies are fine to lock down. They are still available on many shards, but do not sell for a lot anymore.
