Real skill vs jewerly?

Ok so in taming, does it matter if your skill in taming is real skill or achieved by using jewelry?
Does this matter for the loyalty of the animal as well?

The only difference (currently) between real and jeweled up skill is that after you die, you'd better make sure your jewelery is on before commanding your pet if you don't have the real skill for it.

As long as you have the items equipped, you'll get the full benefits. It's only things like forgetting to insure an item or not putting it on after death that might cause trouble. I prefer to use items for skills other than taming/lore/vet just to be on the safe side. Better to have items attached to the less essential skills IMO.
