Real skill vs jewelry skill?

Masteries require the 90 real skill, jewelry skill doesn't work for them. Is that true for the benefits they give, or does it ignore the jewelry skill completely for the mastery benefits?

What skills as a rule require real skill and ignore jewelry skill? I know my EV casting here sucks big time vs casting them on Chessie with real skill.

Generally speaking, skill calculations will use the modified skill. In the case of magery, using a magery skill bonus will improve your cast chances. Do you have any other examples?

in terms of EV casting and general spellcasting, its the same wherever its real or using skill jewels, as Deraj said. Only case real skill matters that I can think of; is for mastery abilities, where real skill is the modifier.

Honestly I have little doubt that there is a difference. Tried running 90 fencing with +30 skills and got my butt kicked be medusa. With 120 real I can sleep at the keyboard and still beat her.
