Auction Information and Rules For Bidders:

All bidding will be done via Bulletin Board. All bidders and proxy bidders must include their prominent name (not unknown alias) and provide contact information (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, or Stratics Name) in addition to their bid amount. Bids must be made in 10 Million Gold or higher increments. There will be a 10 minute cool down period starting with the last bid placed on items between 6:50PM – 7PM EST. Players can choose to continue bidding past 7PM EST in Silent Auction House #2 only on items that received bids during the last 10 minutes period, and can continue bidding for another 10 minutes until no more bids have been received for a full 10 minutes. Anyone can bid in this cool down period, even players who have no previous bids. Please note any bids not adhering to the auction rules will be deleted.

Receiving Your Winnings:

Gold will be acceptable on Atlantic only. Players will have 5 days (120 hours) to pay for their items, or be placed on notice as a non-paying bidder in the rares community. I will broker the sale of all the items presented in the silent auction houses. In order to receive your winnings, you must contact me via ICQ, Stratics, or Facebook. My colorful army of Orienteering Robed vendors will accept your gold. After you have bought of these vendors, I will deliver onto you, your winning item(s). I might be able to personally provide limited gold swapping for a few select shards if you notify me in advance. Please contact me for additional optional payment methods.

But then 2 lines down it says "All items within this house will have a minimum 150m starting bid."
Isn't having a 150 mil minimum bid the same exact thing as a reserve?

I think what Nails means when he states this, is this:

In order to place an item in the auction itself, the item must have a minimum value/bid of 150m. If it doesn't meet this requirement, it can then just be placed on a regular/rares vendor. The Silent Auction is meant to auction off rares that can't be placed on vendors due to the price cap.

I will try to have as many high end items as possible, very few repetitive items, and of course if someone sets reasonable low buyout prices, I can put their items in to be sold fast, so I can add more.

To a point, you are right. Even though the second house doesn't have reserves. It really does, but it is meant to be that way. As I and Lew stated, if it weren't that way, then it will be wasting space and it could be put on a Rares Vendor.

Our goal, is to save space while offering up a variety of high end items. IF there is an item in the silent auction with max value of 50M, it is making a different item, with value of 2bil not have a space in the auction. Why put that 50M item in the Silent Auction when it can go on a vendor? 2Bil items can't go on vendors.

I'm contemplating adding the Drachenfels, LS, Formosa, etc lanterns too. There are alot of people looking to get them all around the same price. This would make it easier deciding who gets it

There is a 1 for 48 item in there with a 150 mil starting bid. Same item I recently just bought for only 40 mil. I have also have seen 6 of them sell all under 100 mil..

When it comes to event items and rares their value is what a buyer will pay. At a extremely popular auction like this the items would obviously hit what the public perceives as their market value...


I apologize for the ranting. I just miss the days when the rarefest auctions only a handfull of items with reserves and not every single item.

Me as a seller and a buyer I'd rather see auctions that have a beginning point and even a reserve unless the reserve is higher than the top value of an item. In the case of this auction and with the people involved running it I cannot see an item even being accepted if say I were to say "OK take this lantern but lets do a minimum bid of 500m" They would send me away I'm sure..

Another reason I like starting bids is because so many people lowball and its really just annoying. I'm usually the guy there throwing out a bid at about 3/4ths of the items value even if I don't want it just to get past all the annoying bids "I bid 2gp, 3gp, 4gp" Thats just annoying and I don't have time for that.

Another reason as a seller this time that I like a starting bid or reserve is because lets face it people UO isn't what it used to be. There aren't hundreds of thousands of people playing this game or anywhere near that even if we merge all the servers into one. With such a large scale auction there is a possibility for an item to slip from view and not gain anywhere even remotely close to its value. It is not fair to the person selling an item to lose out like that on a sale. I know when I lose on an item over and over in an auction I start to think less of that auction and the people running it. Then eventually I stop going and or submitting my items because of low to no faith. These people work hard and certain mechanics are in place to protect a sellers interests. That is never a bad thing imo.

All in all theres going to be deals on both ends buying or selling. I expect that I'll steal some very good deals and I also expect that I will in some cases not get full value on some things while gaining well above value on others. This is meant to be a fun event for all and it is in very good hands I'm sure of that. Just have fun with it man and don't over think it too much.

Update On The Silent Auction

First off, thank you all for your interest and participation. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I try to address all your needs in the order I receive them. I wanted take a moment here to give all participates some additional information so that you may better assist me help you enjoy your silent auction experience.

Likewise, sellers please promote and get players to buyout your items. I have run out of room, and I need to open up more spaces. If someone bids on your items, try contacting them, see if they will do buyout or come close enough to it.

I am still accepting items for the silent auction with conditions. Please understand, its nothing personal, but I must choose items for the silent auction carefully. I can only accept the most qualified items for the auction, which means the items must be worth more than 150m to be entered, must have fair reserve bids, must have reasonable buyout prices (if you insist upon having them) and must not be an item already present in the auction. Be forewarned, even if your item is currently present in the auction, does not mean it might not be replaced with a more qualified item.

I apologize to those who do not yet see their items in the auction. Please understand if you do need gold, and are concerned your item might not make the auction, contact me to get the item back. Some of the items submitted might sell better on a vendor. I further apologize if I had to reject your items for the auction.

Buyers and Sellers if you see anything wrong with the presentation of an item, please notify me asap. Yes there may be vacant spots as I am constantly evaluating which items are best to present at any given time.

It has happened a few times already, and it is totally at the discretion of the sellers who placed items there. Most did place them there with no buyouts in mind. I can't help it if they change their minds, these are not my items.
