Raising Inscription

Since I just returned I'm having to make some changes to my template, so I stoned swords and ninjitsu and put Inscription on. I've been following the guide on UOGuides.com, and it says at 85-94 make 7th circle scrolls, so I'm doing Flamestrike since it uses less regents. I've been at it for at least an hour and haven't gained .1 during that time. Is that the current way to raise inscription? Just seems like a long time with not a single gain.

I don't think anything has changed since when I raised inscr, but from 82 - 96.3 I did invis, then from there to 100 I did flamestrikes.

Thanks Taun, just curious why you went that route. Was there a different guide back then or what?

Rate over time, I think. Since you can sell the scrolls for a profit no matter what reg costs don't much matter, but a 6th takes half as much mana as a 7th, you can get double the throughput. So maybe the skill raises only 2/3 as fast per attempt, but you're pulling 2x the attempts per unit of time...

It was long ago enough that I don't totally remember though.

One thing that might have changed since you last played is the addition of Alacrity Scrolls which let you gain more than 0.1 when a gain is made (up to 0.5 I think) for 15 minutes. Also Scrolls Of Transcendence which when used give you those points directly into the skill.

Here's a fun trick if you make Mage spellbooks from 65-100 it takes a bit longer, but the only resource you use is blank scroll and it costs no mana!

While it took me a little longer than I wanted, training inscription on Siege was a piece of cake. Once I hit RoT, attempt to make a scroll every 8 or 12 minutes and I happily hit GM.

Now I just just wish wresting was as easy to get on Siege, lol. :)

Not one bit harder except you can't effectively use blues.
Just pick a pet or a golem with appropriate skill.

Inscription is after carpentry on my list though, I'll need it to craft bod books to start training tailoring so I can craft fishing poles so I can start training fishing so I get white nets so I can kill cthulhu and get small soul forge so I can train imbuing after I train blacksmithy (so I can forge items to imbue so I don't have to get unravel junk), so I can supply myself and others with imbued items. Then sometime I train fletching and then I can switch for other skills like detect hidden, lockpick and remove traps, then fighting skills.

Oh wait, I'm a tinker, so I can imbue braces and rings. But I need blacksmithy anyway so I can get pof.

This is how I've done it too. The downtime waiting for mana to regen when doing spell scrolls is just too unnerving that I've just found it faster to do tens of thousands of normal spellbooks instead.
