Quivers, how do they work

I know what each quiver says it does, but how does it work, if I have quiver of fire, it gives 50% physical and 50% fire damage, so what if I have a 50/50 wep, do I do 100/100 physical and fire damage? does it only work on arrows, someone help me please

I have used all the different quiver types. To me, there is no real perceptible difference in them...just that you can haul more arrows around easier than without. The Quiver of Rage does chaos damage, I see it doing no more damage than the Quiver of infinity....so it must be such an small difference as to be barely measurable.
