Quick Question - new account & house placement

I just created another account on Thanksgiving and was hoping to place a house this weekend. But a guildy told me that you can't place for 15 days. He found that info on the "Playguide" on the UO Herald website, and so I looked and lo and behold, that's what it says. But is that true!? Or is it outdated information?

I thought that much of the "Playguide" on the Herald site was outdated. And I could not find that info on either Stratics or UO Guide.

Hoping I can place this weekend. Worried that I won't be able to. :(

Hmm, yeah I just read the same thing. The character that places the house must be at least 15 days old.

I don't remember when that went in. I do recall the house ownership restrictions placed on trial accounts.

Sorry, not more help.

I can see that for trial accounts - but this one is not a trial account - it's full Stygian Abyss, plus High Seas since they had the sale this weekend on it. I don't know if being a full, active account will make a difference or not, though.

*still keeping fingers crossed*

Try placing now, I think the restriction was removed a long time ago... As long as it is a paid account, I think you can place...

I recently opened a new account and was able to place a house right away. It was a paid account.

That was the sort of reply I was hoping for!! Thanks, Njjj.

@ Martyna - can't yet, I'm hoping to snag a spot in Termur and am still building my loyalty points. But I will have those points by this weekend, I think/hope. I played last night with a house placement tool in the old lands, and it looked to me as though I would be able to place (I had to cancel out of the menu), but my friends seemed to think that if I had actually tried to commit the house all the way, I would have gotten a message telling me the account was too young. But I surely did not wish to start that 7 day clock ticking by actually trying to commit the 'test house'!

My guess is that they *do* have that limitation on trial accounts, which makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the replies. I will rest easier during my hunting for loyalty points now. :)

i dont think trial accounts can place a house at all.. on top of that the trial is only 14 days?

I think if the account is too young you will get that error message the moment you try to click the tool.

Should be this. ^

I believe they made it first so that any account needed a char that was at least 15 days old. To stop players abusing trial accounts at IDOCs if I remember correctly.

But then they changed it so that any account that was paid for didn´t have the 15 day restriction.

Should be, but it wasn't my experience. I had a new freshly paid account (non-trial) that wasn't allowed to place until day 15.

How long ago was that? My hope is that perhaps it was before they changed it, i.e., before Njj placed his house with a new account.

I was able to do it about 18 months ago. I believe that is still the case for paid accounts.
