I plan on running a nox mage fencer:

120 mage
120 eval
120 fencing
100 anat
100 tact
80 poison
65 ???

I'm on a 705 cap. Question is, what do I spend the extra 65 points on?

Alchemy? Would I even get much passive EP out of it? Wont have much room on ring for ep, if any....its a pretty cramped build as far as having a good suit goes

Scribe? Would 65 scribe even add anything?

Others? (perhaps drop anat/tact to 90 for more cushion?)

I really want to keep the focused mage/30% sdi, but want to invest the 65 into the skill i could get most use out of...thanks!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

My guy is one of two things (i switch between). both are focused mage 30 sdi with 25 EP i think.

one is simple -

120 mage
120eval
120 resist
120 med
100 poisoning
120 fencing

(this is only 700 skill, so it meets ur cap)

(infect strike doesn't require tactics)

The other is:

120 mage
120eval
120resist
120 fencing
70 med
80 poisoning
90 tactics

This is 720, so to hit ur 705 cap u would need to drop an additional 15 med to 55. I'd recommend the previous template. You could also decide to run no resist as you mentioned in your template, but depending on your opposition, no resist sucks in pvp.

use this one for specials like armor ignore/mortal/para blow

the suit actually requires alot of effort to make, and val runic weapons can really make it (because of hci and dci requirements). Its not bad if you decide you dont want max hci, but it is preferred.

Thanks for your reply. I plan on using a kryss and need to deliver capped AI's. Will 100 tact with 0 anatomy get me there?

I was thinking along the lines of this:

120 mage
120 eval
120 fencing
100 tact
100 scribe
80 poison
65 xxx

also, your 2nd template had no fencing :O

oops on the no fencing on the 2nd temp, i editted it.

Honestly... i've put alot of time, gold, and effort into this suit and template myself. Being that you need to first hit 30sdi, 45hci, 45+ dci, 100lrc, 40lmc, and get some mana regen, adding damage increase to cap your AI's just is not possible with this setup. I have some insane val hammer weapons to build around as well and still couldn't pull it off. I finally said screw it and i switch between a kryss and a leafblade.

That being said, i have a dexer with 107 tactics/113 anat and i think 90 damage increase and i still dont ALWAYS cap AI's. Its more like 32-35

i personally don't think going for ai/poison is that great on a mage I was playing one not that long ago and it just isn't as fun as most temps. Deathstrike is greater then AI because people run and as a mage you just chase non stop after them to hit an AI or you rarely use it. If you want focused mage you might as well go parry/wrestle with 100 of what ever you want. But really I was just playing one and I found that I wasn't as strong in my mage play and I wasn't very strong with my weapon.. perhaps I am just horrible at playing a split template like this. I found myself chasing after people way too often when if I had just stuck to my usual straight mage temp I would've killed them long before the chase began. For just nox you don't need tactics and I think that makes much more sense.. if you think about it most people run when poisoned so chasing to follow with an AI isn't the best plan in my opinion. Of course well placed walls will negate a chase but that is situational and where I had been fighting there were few spots to wall people. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with it either way :)

You make a good point here for him. You have to be pretty strong in ur pure mage play to be effective with this. Basically playing a pure mage and using infect or specials as part of your mage combos.

right and to make really good use of it you need that high HCI along with everything else a mage needs. Idk my most successful "tactics" mage was a parry macer with a war axe, I would AI for 32-35 allll the time I loved it, but when people started chugging non stop I couldn't keep up as well. Necros were rough too because of the high stamina and pain spikes made the swings slow. But I love to do parry with weapon skills because it makes good use of the high dex you need in order to have parry work effectivly. I personally think the war axe is the best weapon in game...but that's just me.
