I'm going to assume there is a sarcastic tone to that, based on your other posts.
Statistical evidence shows that Age of Shadows was UO's peak. Everything forward was a decline (in terms of player numbers). The best explanation is that veterans left.

Statistical evidence says GW Bush had a "peak" as well but I wouldn't shout to the world it was America's finest moment.

There are as many answers to that question as there are players and I wouldn't want to speak for everyone
As for what's coming up from the developers? The current emphasis appears to be bug fixing, polishing the Kingdom Reborn client and preparations for an upcoming event or two (although details have been light as the team seems to be stretched a little thin since the "big move" and appears to be shy of over-committing).
As for active events, nothing huge at the moment but we have some light seasonal fun with pink rabbits and ingredients for chocolate-crafting on paragons. I hear Atlantic is the beacon site for people getting bulked up for an upcoming big factions event being organized for the spring.
