Questions on training a Cu Sidhe

Hi all,
Can I ask for some advises? I have searched for like 4-5 pages or topics but couldn't find suitable information.

I had a Cu sidhe couple days ago, but I tamed another one on the day before yesterday bacause it's resist is higher, so I need to re-train it again.

What can I train up it's dex faster?
The last one I brought it to champion spawn and killed centaur, 2 hours it raised from 80 to 125
but this one I brought it to kill other things, it only raised 3 dex.....
should I kill tough monster with high hp? or should I let it kill monsters non-stop like killing the centaurs at Champion spawn?

is resisting spell neccessary for Cu Sidhe? coz their resists don't depend on the skill resisting spell......

thanks a lot

Its generally best to take a skill up to its max, then keep trying to gain in that skill. That increases gains very quickly.

To gain Resist Spell, I've heard New Haven's Spectral Spellweavers (or something like that) give good resist gains.

Edit: for the record, resist spell also helps you negate some spells (like curses, poison, etc.) and reduces the time these effects last. Mostly worth it.

Another great place to train resists on your pets is on sphynx. I do my cu's healing and resist there at the same time as they cast tons of spells at your cu!

Alternatively, if you have magery, you can do it yourself - just cast the spells that are resistable - curse, weaken, poison, etc.

Make sure it can't melee you back, though ^_^

Yeah I have thought this through, I was planning to do it this way if I train it's resisting spell.
just want to know whether it's needed to do so.

so what's the better way to train it's dex?
I will try killing centaurs again at champion spawn tonight if no other better method......

thanks anyway

Dex won't usually gain quickly until you have another skill at 100. Then dex will fly up.

In a champ spawn, resist also flies up, since many of your opponents cast spells at you and your pet. That's how I brought my cu from 90 to 100 resist.

Demons are also nice for training.

There's a room in Doom with 2 liches and 2 rotten corpses. Everything goes up well in that room (if you have at least 80 wrestling and tactics on your pet before hand).

I understand what you are saying, but I really exprienced that my Cu sidhe's dex boost from 80 to 125 in no more than 2 hrs.
and it's untrained at that time so it must have no skill up to 100 yet.

but i really want this to happen again

anyway, I may give it a try again tonight, doing the same thing
if it works i will revert to you guys, wish me luck

Look at your cu's melee skills, then you'll need to train on mobs with skills around that level. I train dex passively by just training my pets, and found some pets just seem faster than others in that respect.

Here's a nice little guide to get you going: pet handling guide.

My partner found that daemons were a good safe training mob for resist and melee skills and they have decent gold loot as well. For healing, you will need rotting corpses, or disco your pup while he's at the daemons. I did short training sessions daily, telling my pup to stop and stay then disco and cast poison on him so he's constantly trying to cure himself. I did that till I was out of mana then we headed out for our usual hunt. It took a very short time to get him GM'd.

However you train resist, don't park him for any length of time with the same mobs, as you'll find they're not casting as much when they get low on mana. It's much more efficient to let them mana dump and kill them, get a fresh set and repeat, than it is to park and go.

Remember also to keep your pet fed, and take care he doesn't get too low on health and loose stamina. I find my pets gain best in skills when they're regen'd up and above half health and I throw them regular snacks :)

seems to me that a Cu's dex normally goes up slowly until at least 2 melee skills are at GM, then it flies up...but it has been a while since I trained my cu.

When i used to train cu's...they always hit 125 dex before i gm'd a skill...

Mind you i did that mind numbingly boring whack a shadow until he got to 90 healing.

alright here is what i experienced again.

I brought my cu sidhe to kill centaur at champion spawn

at the beginning, I kill and loot and kill and loot
spent about an hour, dex almost don't raise, only 1 or 2 points.
then after I overloaded, I choose to kill only and forget about looting, that means the cu sidhe has no time to rest, just kill non-stop.
used about 20 mins, the dex up from 86 to 96
and another 20 mins, the dex up from 96 to 107!!

after that, I brought it to kill rotting corpse, 107 to 125 only used no more than 20 rotting corpses.

believe it or not, this is my actual experience
