Questions about Shields and their mods

Hey all. I want to weed out my ever increasing number of shields that I have stored that I "may" use one day. I definitely want to make a warrior that uses a shield, but don't have such a character at the moment. When I did use a shield in the past, the best shields seemed to be the old ones with high HCI on them. Now shields come with so many more mods and you also have Hephaestus as an option. I have not even experienced whether soul charge, reactive paralyze, etc. are useful. So a few questions for the experts: (1) from the random shields which mods are most desirable to you; (2) presume that you can get a legendary shield drop, what combination of mods would make it the perfect shield for a warrior; (3) out of the various specific artifact shields like Hephaestus etc, which ones do you view as useable; and (4) are the old HCI shields worth keeping? For purposes of this discussion, you can safely assume that spell channeling will not be needed but the warrior may have chiv or other spell casting skill.

It would depend if its for a mage or dexxer.

For a mage I like things like:

Spell channel (as standard) with no -1 FC
15-20 DCI
reactive paralyze
soul charge
eaters
MR or HPR

I don't use a shield on my dexxer (sampire) so I can't help you there.

For warrior most desirable is SSI and in the second place DCI, DI, HCI and as bonus some stats like u can get +20 ponts to str, stam etc. It helps a lot when u try to achieve over capped DCI on suit, or 55 SSI, or 100DI on suit (removing DI from weapon)

If u do Paladin i like mine u can get Soul Charge -> it doesn't change the game but it's good addition. Reactive Paralyze is the same, works fine but only sometimes when i need to run out and heal (I also like visual effect of Reactive Para and it's cool when it works on Navrey, Blackthorn Masters etc.) About Eaters on shield - when good eater appear mostly other mods are low.

First i would consider SSI, DCI, DI, HCI and stats. Rest for warrior can be counted as bonuses.

Yeah, my quick review of mods that I know a bit about, I thought the perfect legendary shield would have some combination of the following 8 mods (I'm not sure if legendary shield can have 8 mods, but I've seen 7 mod ones): 4 hci (seems like max for shield now); 15-20 dci; 25 di; 1 FC; 10 SSI; 5-7 HPI; 5 Stam; and a stat increase. It seems that I get a lot of SC on my 10 SSI shields. :(

Yes, although 1 FC is also not needed for warriors.
FC 1 on shields used to be sought after by chiv users. Is that no longer the case? I have never ran a 4/6 chiv caster or have not used a shield in quite some time. So my information may certainly be dated. And in any event, the FC 1 would indeed be low on my list if I were to prioritize those 8 mods.

Yes that's true but for Paladin only and only when u plan on casting DF + CW + Remove Curse or Heal from Chiv. For DF + EOO only it is not that needed. Paladin can have on shield 1 FC, then 6 FCR on jewels and 1 FC from city bonus. It would be 2/6 overall + Protection spell casted all the time
