I've recently returned to UO after a long break, and I'm considering purchasing an advanced character token (Tamer Template). At the moment I have a character with 70.9 Taming, 100.1 Lore, 42.1 Vet, 96.7 Mage, 110 Med, 104.8 Eval. I'm just curious if it would be worth it to purchase an advanced character to bring the taming, vet, lore to 85 right away, or if I should stick with my current character. Also, would anyone happen to know how long 70-85 taming and 42-85 vet would take if I happen to stick with my current?

Thanks

I've not tried this myself so someone will need to confirm it (I'm a fairly recent returner myself) but you could do this:

1) Get a couple of Soulstones
2) Create a new char
3) Buy and use advanced tamer token on new char
4) Soulstone off Taming and Vet from the new char
5) Soulstone Taming and Vet from the soulstones onto the *old* char.

Voila, old char with more taming/vet.

oth chars will neeed to be on the same account - I'm not sure if there are any other restrictions so wait for someone with more experience of Soulstones to confirm first....

To use the adv char token you most be under 250 skill points if i remeber right i did the same thing with my tamer I used the token on a new char and put the tameing skills on soul stones and picked them up with my tamer but before i did that i moved my old tameing and lore o 2 stones and put on a diffent toon just because i worked hard bringing them up. so all you would have to do is use token on new char then move the skills you want onto the old one .

I wouldn't use an advanced char in that situation. Instead I'd suggest you train and look for decent skill increasing items to boost your skills up in the short term until you're done.

Vet is easy and pretty fast to train, I'm sure there are tamers who've gone from 40-85 vet in a day. You just need plenty of bandages and a constantly damaged pet whether you're hunting with it or sparring two pets together.

Taming is going to take you a bit longer, I'd guess about a week or so but it depends how long you dedicate to training each day. But if you added say +15 taming on a jewel/(s) you'd get to 85 instantly ;) Depending on the items you have available you may manage to boost up a bit further beyond 85 to start with, but obviously your total skill will raise as you train up so it's going to be the same as using the token and simply training up from there.

If you went down the advanced char route you'd need to either use a new char as HellaFarris suggests above or soulstone off virtually all of your skills as your receiving char can't have more than 200 skill points used to use the token and you don't want to "overwrite" any of the skills you have which come from the token.
