I cant for the life of my figure out why protection is good on a bushido paladin any tips? Thank you in advance!

Taking damage interrupts spells. A bushido paladin typically uses close wounds to heal. If you get interrupted and die while trying to heal/cure yourself, most people consider that a bad thing.

I like using protection on most of my warriors. The disadvantage is -15 Physical (-14 if you are a human). Also, you loose 35 Resisting Spells (34 for an elf), but most of my PvM warriors don't have resist unless they are built for fighting necro casters. The benefit of protection is that my spells never fizzle. Chivalry spells, in particular, are very handy to never fizzle when fighting a tough critter or critters. For me, this certainty of casting success outweighs the negatives. An alternative is to stack FC on your suit, but this takes away valuable mods from your suit for other warrior related mods.

If you're going bushido paladin, then -15 physical isn't maybe so bad, since that's easier to overcome than the -25 fire for Sampires... Plus, with the proliferation of 100+ resist pieces from Shame loot / reforging only increasing.

I'm also of the opinion that more and more specificly made suits will be around as time marches on. For instance, if you're not going to run into any non-magery casters, I don't see any reason to care too much about cold resist, since not too many things have a melee attack that deals primarily cold damage. And, the value of round numbers is, IMO, a bit over rated for resist values - not like, say, tactics where 100 vs 99.9 is a big difference.
