Question regarding house customization

Hi all,

I want to make some changes to my walls. I have 7 Soul Stones secured from 4 separate accounts. Are they safe during a customization, or should I pick them up first?

I know they used to go inside your moving crate after customization. Its been like 6 months since i cistomized a house. So not sure if its been changed since then.
