Question on Factions and Alliances

Once upon a time, an unintended feature appeared in the game that allowed Faction guilds and non-Faction guilds to be allied.

This change, though unintended, caused few if any issues, and was viewed positively. So they left it in.

A modification was made to the unintended feature a few publishes ago, to fix a very particular exploit about which they gave few details.

This change was that a guild that was already allied could not join Factions. However, Draconi stated clearly and unambiguously that their intent was to allow guilds that were already in Factions to allow non-Faction alliances.

In other words, a Faction guild could still join an alliance, but an allied guild could not join Factions.

Ok....Got that?

However, the fix was bugged, and a Faction guild could not be in an alliance whatsoever, unless they were already in one before the fix.

So the question is.....Is this still true? Can a Faction guild still not join an alliance with non-Faction guilds?

What you need to do is this:

have two guilds in the same faction.
have them ally
one guild leave faction

you now have an alliance with a faction and non faction guild

make the non faction guild the alliance leader and invite your non faction guilds into the alliance

I have heard that if you want two faction guilds in the alliance, you need to make the faction guild the alliance leader to oinvite them in.

I doubt if you can have different factions in the alliance.

The whole thing is a royal pain but it works.

it gets better!!!!

when the little 'change' came in a couple pubs ago there was also another change.

if you have an alliance and one of the guilds IN that alliance is in factions then EVERYONE in that alliance can not be healed and res'd IN FEL by other people.

fun fun!

i just found something really wild, thought id come and share it here

i was just at UO.com looking at the faction standings for some different shards.

i went to GL and was looking there cause they are hands down the buisiest shard for factions.

i was looking at the biggest guild there, E-GO and saw they where in an alliance with 3 other guild.

nothing new here.

but then i clicked on one of their alliance guilds and noticed something very strange.

they are in an alliance with a guild in Shadowlords.

which is really strange.... considering that E-GO is in Minax.

i shall suply a link-y for those who are too lazy to go look it up their selves.

E-GO guild listing on UO.com http://http://my.uo.com/cgi-bin/guilds.pl?g=00d2798f52f11840:3

and here is the listing for the guild in their alliance THE MYRMIDON http://my.uo.com/cgi-bin/guilds.pl?g=0a15a52ae92a4a76:3

i dont really care beans that they are able to do this, but i do think that everything in UO should be on a level playing field.
so either make it so everyone can, or everyone cant.

i realise that this is probablly from a glitch years ago, or maybe even 2 weeks ago, who knows.
but the game should be able to pick up on these kind of things and break the alliance automatically when things like this are sniffed out.

or, like i said, let us all do this.
either way is fine by me.
