Maybe a stupid question, didn't find much in search mode so:

With wrestling you can disarm as a secondary ability (I think, maybe primary), but do you need anatomy to go a long with that in order to disarm or did they change that so it just checks wrestling skill?

BTW, new to the mage scene. Been since before Tram since I played a mage.
Thanks!

I may have read this wrong, but using a "mage weapon" allows you to not possess a melee skill and you'll get the benefits of wielding it as if you had the skill? They base it on your magery skill? Same goes with using special attacks with it equipped, or does that check tactics too then so you wouldnt be able to perform specials without tactics?

With Wrestling you will be able to disarm without anatomy or tactics, it only checks your wrestling skill level.

As for the mage weapon, yes you can wield it using your Magery as a skill level. However you won't be able to do specials with it, as it requires you to have the appropriate melee skill level.

What a mage weapon allows is a mage template (that can be packed with other skills) it have a defensive "skill" without having to invest 120 points in yet another skill. A mage weapon uses your mage skill as your defensive skill when being attacked for physical damage, weather it's a player (pvp) or a monster (pvm)

You will swing your mage weapon for damage when facing physical attacks, but with your slow swing speed (most mages have low dex) and low damage output (most mages don't have tactics or anatomy for damage increases) your damage output will be negligible.

Mage weapon hits are only useful for the occassional hit magic arrow/fireball against a mage to disrupt their spells... and you're not going to hit very often with it.

A lot of people think you need Anatomy to be able to disarm via wrestling, or to make it MORE effective, but this is not true.
Wrestling by it's self is quite effective, especially at 120. You don't get disrupted as much (assuming you don't have protection ON), you can disarm, and you can paralyze. Paralyze is tricky, but it's pretty cool if you para, then step back and cast explosion and e-bolt. It's pretty fun.
Of course, 45 HCI helps with this as well, but mages looking for LMC, LRC, DCI, FC, FCR doesn't leave much room for HCI.
