Question about Turkeys' Nests

Alright, got sometime to spend on the Thanksgiving Event and was working on some Maps I got.

I have a question. I read that the large eggs must be broken fast (after looting the bag) as the nest will disappear in a short while.

What for ?

I mean, I looted the bag of some gold, a feather and a cornucopia.

Then double clicked the 3 eggs in the nest and the nest went "poof".

Nothing happened whatsoever other than the Nest disappearing.

Why couldn't I just let the Nest be without bothering double clicking the eggs ??

Quest reason:
While you can leave them alone, wilson requests that you destroy them to control the mutant turkey population.

Non quest reason:
Breaking them will give you a small chance of something happening, like getting a plucked turkey.

I got 3 this way.


Also, you can break them by dbl clicking them or targetting them using a knife. The latter doesn't require you to be standing close to the eggs. I have gotten plucked turkeys using both methods.

Now that you say that it gets even oddier....

I just did a second Map and it had 3 Eggs. Two of them were Gian Turkey Eggs and double clicking them destroyed them.

The third one, said it was a Mutant Egg and that I should leave it alone and it won't let me destroy it.

If we are supposed to control the Mutant population why the game won't let me destroy the mutant Egg ??

After a few seconds the whole Nest vanished taking that third mutant egg with it without I could find a way to break it.

By the way, I am getting nothing from breaking the Giant Turkey eggs. Only always gold, a cornucopia and a feather in the bag.

After breaking the eggs nothing respawns in the bag either.

Question, whatever drops from breaking the Giant Eggs is supposed to spawn in backpack or in that bag ?

If you read more carefully the message you get, the plain turkey egg is a non-mutant egg.
If you get an item from breaking the mutant eggs it will appear in your pack.

If it makes no sense to you to break them, then don't. Can't get much more simple than that.

You will get the leave it alone message if it's a normal egg. you might have read the message wrong with the overlapping text recently. Try on another nest and dbl check.

Just to add, I have found a couple of nests where it tells me I can't reach one of the eggs by dbl clicking, no matter where I stand. If you get one like this, use a dagger on it.

The plucked turkey doesn't go into the bag, it goes directly into your backpack. But it's quite rare though. From estimation, I think a 1 in 50 chance? Also, there's a chance that another giant turkey hatches from breaking the giant eggs.

Lissa's right, it says "This is a non-mutant egg. You decide to leave it alone." I just tested.

I think OP missed the "non".

And ohhh...the thing about karma? I got a "stuffing" from the test that I just did! Woot!!!

You are right, my bad, did another and it reads non-mutant. I read it too fast the first time.

I've done 20 of these roughly and not once have I been able to destroy all three eggs, I always end up with 1 non mutant one, is that normal?

I also got a cornucopia from killing a turkey which gave me a harvest cider lol... is that good?

I have gotten a few where I can destroy all three eggs and the nest goes poof and the bag is left sitting there. I have gotten the harrow, the nest and the cornucopias in the bags. I have yet to get a plucked turkey from destroying the eggs but did get one off killing a turkey and I turned it in and wished I hadn't oh well.. still killing turkeys to get another one to keep. oh yeah the stuffing forgot about that...got 2 of those

I just need a Harrow, got 2 plucked turkeys, one I turned in for the blade and now one for deco. I have done 30 or so maps and have only recieved the stuffing off of 1 nest and a plucked turkey from looting a Turkey. If anyone on Origin has an extra Harrow... ;P

The Harvester's Blade is very nice. If you collect resources like leather, scales, feathers, and meat it gives a bonus to the resources collected. It also skins, cuts, and loads it all in your pack in one click. Makes resource gathering so much quicker. If you don't want the blade you should be able to make a nice profit off of it by selling it.

May I ask why you wished you had not turned it in ?
