Question about Swampy's Armor Duration.. How's it figured?

I did some looking around & found this link...

The part I'm unsure about is this....if a Shadow Irion Barding deed has 17,000 "durability" I get that the 17k represents how much Damage the armor can absorb, but what I'm unsure on is how that's calculated...

Is the Barding durability decreasing by the 20% of X damage that it's absorbing for my character?? or Is the barding durability decreasing by X before the 20% reduction is figured in?

For example if something hits me for 50 dmg without being on a swampy then riding the swampy with Exceptional Barding I would take 20% less damage aka 40 dmg... but would the Barding's durability decrease by 50 or by 10?

Anyone?

I think the armor only takes damage when you are dismounted, i.e. the swampy taking damage

No it takes damage when mounted too.

It "absorbed" damage. I don't know the math exactly but as you take damage X% is removed from your incoming damage and is applied to the pool of armor your Swampy has.

Get on a guilded char with a swampy. put fresh armor on the swampy. have a guildmate AI you once, check swampy armor. Repeat a needed or hit several times and then look at damage taken on swampy armor. Should be calculate-able.

p.s. let us know how the math works out.

Not 100% certain but I think I remember reading swampy armor reduces damage taken by 18%. I believe that 18% is absorbed by the armor and taken off the armor points. Speranza is correct.

non-exceptional barding is 10% absorb
exceptional 20%
and paroxys swamp absorbs 12%
