Question about Blackrock

Ok,

I'm trying to blackrock infect my mage. I put the blackrock on the ground. I say "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym". The blackrock goes off, I either die or am surrounded by blue light and my health goes down. It says something like, you cannot control wild energies or something to that effect.

As far as I can tell this is normal. What isn't normal is that I have done this about 15 times over the last 2 weeks and I'm STILL not blackrock infected. Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't want to waste anymore blackrock until I know for sure its going to work...

Thanks in advance for your help,

Wolfthistle.

maybe it doesn't work anymore. I did it once and was infected.

That's possible I suppose... I've tried it on every facet, in town, out of town, in a dungeon, etc. No voices, no blackrock infecting things, nothing.

Anyway, if anyone else has any advice, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wolfthistle

If you were successfully infected after casting Armageddon, you will see some grey text in the lower left of your window about hearing voices or some such. Log out, then back in and you should see your greeting within a few minutes

If you don't see the message about the voices, you were not infected, so keep trying. Oh, and it does definitely still work.

Is your mage Legendary (120 skill)? If you are only GM or Elder, then it is more difficult to cast the spell successfully, so it will require more tries. I think you only get blackrock infected when you cast the spell and the wisp appears.

Legendary = highest percentage chance of being infected
GM = lowest percentage chance of being infected

i never seen a wisp either.
i did it at gm and took around 10 times to get a succesion.
i died quite a bit and had to do it with a healer near by.
but i would assume it should still work since we never got any info saying it had been removed which i believe we usually do when things are removed

Three tries, got the wisp. Hearing voices... not infected though as far as I can tell... did it yesterday so it's still working.

Did this in Trammel... the char has negative karma. (Evil Lord)

... oh and the char never died.

You just gotta be a badass mage who's an Evil Lord... no carebear mages allowed in the Armageddon Club.

Safe travels, Sam

You don't need to be infected to infect monsters, just carry a piece of blackrock in your backpack.

Yeah I am missing what ya'll are expecting here.
You don't get a title or anything. Just some crazy messages occasionally and sometimes (rather rarely) you run by a critter and it'll turn blackrock infected.
It's not like you get a message telling you you're blackrock infected.

Hey All,

First, thanks for replying, I appreciate it. Yes, my magery is legendary. 120 mage, 120 eval int, 120 resist are the 3 legendary's on that char.

Flutter, this might seem crazy to you, but the reason I want to become infected is cause I don't want to miss out again. I missed candle of love, I missed almost every event we had last year. It's on record somewhere (I tried to find it but failed miserably) that there is going to be a cure, but that we're going to be sorry we asked. WELL I WANT TO BE SORRY I ASKED, DARN IT!!! I'm not missing out again! lol.

There are multiple things that can happen when you cast Armageddon.

1. Absolutely nothing.
2. Small explosion.
3. Big explosion.
4. Small explosion, blackrock infection (maybe).
5. Big explosion, blackrock infection.
6. Small explosion, attract the attention of a blue wisp.

Blackrock infection is somewhat rare. Blue wisp attraction is even rarer.

edit::
Oh, and I believe the only thing your magery skill changes is the chance that you will get an explosion at all. I don't think it changes the chance of getting infected or attracting the wisp if you do get the explosion.
I could be wrong though - Draconi has left us in the dark on the details on how blackrock works.

edit2::
Actually... I think I'm missing a few possibilities for what might happen when you cast armageddon now that I think a little more... it's been a while and my memory is a little fuzzy.
