Quesiton on Cannons

I figured I would see about taking down some pirates and merchant ships and was wondering, what are the differences between a large/small cannon and the different types of ammo?

The large cannons do more damage (nobody really knows how much more exactly). This means, with small cannons you need more shots to scuttle a ship. While both types of cannons come with different kind of ammo but use the same fuse, you waste more resources (black powder/salpeter) if you use small cannons.

Grapeshot is does more damage to people/monsters, cannonballs do more damage to the ship.

hehe I have yet to fire my cannons as I can't find anyone to make me the charges and fuses. Its good to have to rely on other players again for a change
