Quck Lumberjack question (about damage bonus)

Is the 10% damage bonus for lumberjacking calculated along with the rest of your % damage increase, or is it calculated afterwards?

If it just adds 10% then before calculations, then it isn't a huge boost, but if it's added after calculations, then it could be very impactfull.

Bonus question: Do war axes count as axes when calculating the lumberjack bonus? I can chop wood with them, but they are considered mace weapons, so I am uncertain if it counts as an 'axe'.

Thanks much! :)

I believe the war axe doesn't count - I wish it would.

The way the DI bonuses work.

First of all, you get the weapon's base damage numbers.

Then, you get the damage bonuses for STR, Tactics, Anatomy & Lumberjacking, and add them together.

Multiplying the base damage of the weapon, by that total, results in the damage range you see displayed in the status bar.

You then take the other DI bonuses, add them together, and multiply that damage range, to get your total damage (before factoring in the target's resists, and things like the elemental split of the damage).

It's actually MUCH better added in this way, because by adding the 10% in BEFORE the weapon DI, equipment bonuses, etc. it gets modified BY those bonuses.

So, with 300% DI from equipment, that 10% bonus to base damage raises total damage by 30%. (added after, it would still only be +10%).

The pre-DI modifers are
Anatomy Bonus = Anatomy * 0.5 (as a %), with a +5% bonus if GM or greater.
Tactics Bonus = Tactics * 0.625, with a 6.25% bonus at GM or greater. #
STR bonus = STR + 0.3, with a +5% bonus at 100 STR or higher.
Lumberjack Bonus = Lumberjack * 0.2, with a +10% bonus at GM Lumberjack. (this is the original formula, and I'm not sure if it still applies - it might have been replaced with a simple Lumberjack * 0.1 when they put in the DI caps, but I'm not sure)

# (note, most references refer to dividing Tactics by 1.6, which is the same as multiplying by 0.625; it's easier to make comparisons if you keep all the equations using the same style of math)

The LJ DI bonus is only aginst the base damage of your weapon so the max extra DI you will get at GM(30%, calculations are rounded down) is 6 points with the ornate axe. Way, way, way back in the day it did boost everything but peeps were wandering around with axes and one hit killing other players so it got nerfed to base damage only.
