HOLY HELL! I can't believe I just wrote 2+ paragraphs on my quest for the perfect razor!!! Please forgive my talkative nature guys. I could use the advice though, some of these bastards are freaking 20 and 30 bucks! I never put much stock into it, but I'm now starting to believe that there will be a big difference in comfort with regards to razors
So, today at the "office", I was asking the lads about their favorite razors as the cheap ones I've been buying now for who knows how long just aren't cutting it anymore. Back when I was 16 and 17 those cheap deals worked wonderfully (Peach-fuzz doesn't put up much of a fight ya know?) but now that I'm in my 30's I've come to realize I've been cheating myself by using them. Of course I didn't get much help from the bastards I work with because they took the question and turned it into a joke at my expense. (I'm 32, but still get carded for cigarettes. I have an extremely youthful appearance. In truth though, I enjoy the jokes and even go as far as joining in & claiming it's because all the drugs I was strung out on prior to getting sober. They're a preservative you see! rolleyes
So anyways. What do all you hairy beast recommend? I might look young, but I admit that I do put an effort into staying so, and I'm nicking the hell out of my beautiful mug in the process by using these 2 blade disasters. I bought the M.5 Magnum today, it's the middle of the road in pricing and I just guessed that it would be a good one to start with. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, will in the morning. I kinda wished I had asked here first though as even though money isn't an issue with me, it's pointless to buy every single product, finding that perfect one, when I can at the very least narrow the playing field down simply by asking and I can't think of a better place to ask than here as no-one knows what I look like and I might get some answers instead of the self-esteem sapping ball-busting I'm prone to with this question in my regular life! (Why do I get the feeling, some poor sap is going to make some extremely distasteful joke about other uses for razors?)
If you kind and understanding folks do end up throwing your suggestions out, well it would just make me the happiest little fellow in the whole world!
Oh, and just in case someone suggest it. While I love straight razor shaves and do regularly hit up the Barber just for em, doing them myself is out of the question. I still have a slight shake due to damage done from the extreme over indulgence that was my life quite a few years ago, and this combined with straight razors could equal an ever so slight hitch in my lifetime goal of not slicing my throat open! Although I really shouldn't joke about that.
