PvPers; Average latency/ping?

I'm curious to know the average latency/ping of PvPers.

I only play mages and used to have a ping of mid 20s to 30s. I feel I was a pretty successful mage at the time. I moved a year ago however and now range from 50 to 140+ and it has taken a toll on my abilities. Perhaps I need to adjust my targeting times to take the higher ping into account but interrupts will still suffer.

Anyways, it's just something that I've been wondering.

MY Ping went from 20-30s to the same 50-150ish around February.... something got changed on where my provider connects to, to reach the server or how many hops it takes now... Totally sucks =\

Something else I noticed though is my Ping will go back to normal... from about 5am-1pm Then it quickly increases every hour averaging the 50-150.

Sounds like we suffer the same problem. I'm on comcast, the same as I was before. I assume it's server congestion. According to trace uo I have over 20 hops and 4 with 100% packet loss but I attribute those to servers that don't allow pings. I ONLY pvp and favor mage duels over all else. Perhaps a break is in order before frustration gets out of hand.

UO pvp is only really playable for me in the daytime. (very frustrating, because i dont play UO during the day...) I dunno what the problem is, i have very good (expensive at least) verizon fios and would be very interested in how to get UO to perform better (playable) during other hours.

Average Atlantic Ping is 15 right now, but usually around 47 when i want to play. usually some packet loss as well, which is what really kills it.

Ping times are subject to the law of diminishing returns: because of the speed cap, beyond a certain point there's no benefit to a lower ping. Pinging 30-40 ms, I still move no faster than when I previously was ~80. It's noticeably better than the ~160 ms pings I had when I first got DSL, 14 years ago. That wasn't quite good enough to put me at the speed cap, but it was faster than the 300 ms pings I had on dial-up.

Of course, the best pings and fewest hops are no good if there's packet loss.

Yeah that's the same issue I have with my Fios.

I have around 100 ms from Denmark, not bad at all, but I'm not a mage :p

Taken just now. As I remember, that's about what I had back in 2004-2005 before I got Comcast (I believe I had Adelphia when I first got a cable conn, but there was some corruption & they went bankrupt. Comcast took over after that)

I just ran Atlantic, and I got Minimum 33, Maximum 38, Average, 35.

I have the same problem with UO. There is no way I can pvp with jumpy ping times. Some days I cant even pvm without freeze lag.

My direct ping is fine but when I do a trace route there's always a step in the 200s, and I'm not sure how to contact the provider to get that fixed. It's beyond my ISP.
