I'm just returning to the game after about 10 years. When I left, I was swapping between a couple templates. One was a necro nox swords, but it looks like you can no longer inflict poison without tactics. Ugh! The other was a ninja archer, but I'm told that's pretty weak now. What are the best templates these days?

That's fencer or archer or fencer AND archer? That's what this game has been missing for a while...the ability to range and tank. I played a swords/archer/mage back in the day.
I decided to go swords and archery. I really like having bleed and poison on a cleaver from a pk aspect...kills runners. I do have 115 fencing on a stone if I change my mind though. What do you think?
