PvP Tamer Template Help

Hey all, returning to UO this weekend and wanting to roll a tamer for PvP. Any ideas? Been a long time since I played, not really sure what to group up as far as skills go anymore... I'd even take a website with template ideas too. Thanks!

I'm far from a pro on the subject (and also returning to the game as of 2 weeks). However, since no one else seems keen on posting I'll give it my best shot.

There are a couple Tamer templates that I know of. While my research has been primarily based on PvM, I am sure that most of this carries over fairly well to PvP.

Tamer Mage
110 Taming
120 Lore
110 Vet
120 Magery
120 Eval Int
120 Meditation
700 Total

Strengths: Versatile build with additional healing capability & essentially a full mage template included. Works very well for PvM if you desire.

Tamer Archer
110 Taming
120 Lore
110 Vet
120 Archery
120 Tactics
120 Magery
700 Total

Another versatile build and very good damage per second. Some use of magery but mainly utility spells. Could change 120 Magery for 110 Resist (+10 points), take Tactics down to 90 (+30 points) and Lore down to 110 (+10 points) and dump those 50-70 points (depending on account age) into Chivalry. Archery works well with animals in PvP because you can dismount attack people and watch as your <enter mean pet here> rip them apart as you follow up with extra damage.

In the end, I don't know much about the proper template. I know Resist is a great thing in PvP, but not sure how much a tamer depends on it. So these are vague ideas from a new PvM player and probably will not be optimal for your PvP needs. Look around on the forums for better information if no one responds to this post within the weekend.

Anyway, I hope this gets you started.

Best of luck,

~ Solikos

I'd honestly doubt that you'll get too much help on the subject. Since it's likely only the PvP community that will be able to give you quality advice, and from what I've read the vast majority (or perhaps the vocal minority, who knows) of the PvP community seems to really despise PvP tamers.

pvp tamers are the scum of yew gate.... but if u use them in dungeons then thats actually a decent template.. The archer one isnt half bad honestly.. with new super drags ive seen alot of people use lame templates that are pure defensive with wrestling and parry with 50% ep and what not. Archery is the best probably although along with a super dragon and a good dismounter.

although magery is a waste on a pvp tamer. Pick up healing and a balanced heavy, crossbow and use pots to cure and bandages to heal. 0r pick up chiv
