Ok I have finally got my toon to the point that I can actually start trying to pvp (ie newbie = easy kill) however I am at a crossraods. My current skills are

102 fencing (120 cap)
104.5 Tatics (120 cap)
100.0 anat (110 cap)
100.0 SS ( have a 120 scroll)
92,4 Necro (120 cap)
94.2 parry (120 cap)
80.1 healing
Stats are
100 str
100 dex
50 int
I have 80.0 poisoning stoned and 83 bushido stoned.
I was considering putting Healing and anat on stones and swapping for busido and poisoning but i am trying to figure out if using pots combined with SS and confidence is going to be enough to keep me healed in a fight. Also what mods should I be looking for on jewels weapons etc for this char to be all around effective and be able to stay in a fight ( not necessarily win but compete)

As far as Jewls go you'll want to look for HCI stuff, If you chug for healing id say look for EP as well. DCI is always a plus =>

Id leave the poisoning in a stone personally. A pile of cure pots will totally cancel out that skill.

So if i stone poisoning i can still use it to put deadly poison on my weapon but wont get the lethal poisoning chance right?

also if I stone poisoning should I use anat again or maybe focus for mana regen

you can use DPed weapons but they won't inflict DP or LP without the poisoning skill

he was just mentioning that cuz most pvpers carry a stack of cure pots and its nothing more then an inconvenience to get poisoned

right well i guess ill need to re evaluate that then. mayhap ill put anat back on.

Yah, kinda stupid isn't it? And yet if one suggests that perhaps the use of potions in PvP as they are now should be reevaluated, most PvPers would say no. :/

I've run SS+Confidence+Pots before and been very happy with it.
It will keep you alive until things get really thick.

Yah, just depends on how many you're fighting. I've run just SS no pots/no confidence and been fine but if it's against a gank it's not so fine. When people ask for template advice they should post if they're going to do solo/small group/large group as that can change what template they might play.

/agree.

Confidence+SS+pots will work great in a group, or in 1v1.
if you want to survive a gank, I've found nothing better than confidence+heal/anat+pots

Bandies r nice because you can move while 'casting' and you can't be inturrupted, but in less extreme situations (not ganks) confidence gives you the move while casting, and SS gives you the big quick heal.

interesting, I will probabally be solo or in small groups most times, so ganks are likely. I like the SS+Heal/anat/pots template.

Im not that good at making dexxer templates but imo you should build your template around the weapon u gonna use.

DO you already have a good weapon ?!

I have a couple of decent ones, including a very nice assains spike, however that requires ninja for one of the specials. I am looking for a decent pitch fork and kryss.

Well for starters you need to decide where you want all your skill at because if you take all those skill you have listed to the caps that you put in you will be way over 720 Skill points...

You would also need 105 Necro to cast all the spells no need to go higher & 120 Spirit speak to get the most out of the spells like how long they last, how much damage you put out etc.

You have 50 Int listed... you have no meditation at all on your template Necro is very mana intense.. even if you dont use the necro a lot and try to go strait dexer you will never kill anyone with no specials and they also cost mana...

I think you need to re think that template just my opinion...

thats the info I am looking for :) so 105 is fine for necro, someone else suggested that there is really no reason to take tactics higher than 100. What would you suggest I replace for med?

120 Fence
120 SS
105 Necro
100 tactics ? or 120 is there a significant benifit to going higher than 100?
90.1 anat or do i need more? or should I not use heal/anat and just go Bushido
100 heal
that leaves me with 80.9 for either med / parry/ or bushido.

I would run

120 Fencing
120 Spirit speak
105 Necro

90 Tactics - That is all you need to do primary and secondary specials.

85 Anatomy - All u need to res someone.

90 Healing - Run enhanced bandages so your using 90 skill points but healing at a GM level.

110 Meditation

For stats I would base them off the weapon

I would probably shoot for this if you have a 255 cap.

80 - str - Use strength potions and a rose of trinsic will easily be at 100 or a little over.

80 - dex - Use agility Potions - will put you at around 100 as well.

95 - int

That looks to be an easier transition than going straight necro mage with fencing for me at this time. What type of weapon would be usefull with this temp and what mods should i be looking for?

Also dont you need 90 anat for cures? or just use pots and petals for that?

I would try to find a nice Warfork Bleed is very nice combined with Strangle.
Disarm is also Nice.

I would look for these mods.

Fact Casting 1 OR 50 Hit Lower Defense
50 - Fireball
30 - SSI
15 - Hit Chance
50 - Damage Increase

I would also consider a Nice Lance with SSI, HCI, DI, 50 Hight Lightning

Concussion Blow is Very Nice and if u was to be dismounted u could also dismount someone.

And you could use other weapons as well like throw aways Short spears to add some other specials etc. Short spear would be good to swap to in a fight if you have a guy dismounted run up and hit him with a Mortal blow he can then no longer heal... then swap back to war fork bleed etc.

Yes that is why you mainly want a one handed weapon. Cure with Potions petals are not even that reliable because of the delay.

thanks for the help Kage i truly appreciate it. That is the great thing about Siege , all the help you have given me might actually make me better at pvp and would most certainly make me confident enough to take you on someday, and yet thats exactly why you help :)

Yep you are exactly right I love a challenge ... I would give advice to anyone if they wanted it.

Some will listen and u will see them improve others will scream get a macro pad...

sadly what they dont know about playing a mage is where you macros are located plays a major role...

And those people will just keep dieing to me. :) *Coughs* Vogg
