putting out the fires??

i thought i saw in the FOF that the fires would randomly go out and people would be able to place new houses in the spots.

this will only go bad!! why not have some random way to offer these spots say when you log in you get a ticket in your pack on XXX date they start having drawings this way it would be totaly fair to all

Only problem with that would be what if you have a house and are fine with the house you have? There's too much danger of someone winning who has no desire for this spot. I think a better way would be to hold some sort of contest where those who want the spot can vie for it.

Or tell everyone the fire is going to go out at 4 pm eastern time...and the first to place wins...then have a bunch of GMs there and Ban everyone who is scripting, then put out the fire at 5 :-D

I agree I like the ticket idea also. I think it would be the most fair way of doing it. But I doubt it will happen.

At least on Atlantic its only one Luna house and 5 out in the middle of nowhere ....

So the chance of getting the Luna house there would be 1:6

but then we have at least one more owned by OSI house in Luna so they could throw that into the mix i guess

how about a simple game

a gold ticket (looking like a check)the srea deed is dropped "somewhere" in sosaria, 1 per house per shard etc, a GM/EM can stealth off somewhere and another can have a sort of start line, say WBB, then shout go, and everyone is away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

everyone who wants a chance has to meet with the EM, oh and they get a sash ,

it is also a good way to reintroduce areas to players that they have not seen for years

of course feluccia may be an option, stop the "young" players from finding it in safety, and also give them damn reds a chance but it must be blessed and drops in yr pack when u r near it, so if you have to hotfoot it, you dont have to stop

you return to the start point with your ticket and your sash, and you claim the prize

with regards to second home issues, simple, you get the ticket, then the luna space (same size as burned house) you get ownership, you have a few weeks to move into it, oh and you cannot sell, or trade it for a loooooooooooooooong time, so no profiteers etc

Let me tell you a story, a true story, a story from the day Housing was enabled in Trammel.

I have always enjoyed the North Side of the Bay, just North of Trinsic.

I had the Castle Deed, I had the exact coordinates as to were to place the Castle.

As it turned out, there were two of us vieing to place the Castle.

When it came time to Place the Castle, N number of players were "Disconnected" from the servers (as in across all shards), it was a Program Bug. It was my misfortune to have been one of the ones Disconnected. When I got back on, the other person was honorable enough to suggest that we role for the Castle. I said thanks but no thanks as it was not his fault any more than it was my fault and that I was disappointed in the inability to compete, I did not desire that which was his.

Moral of this true story, "Do not believe for one second, that 100's of people trying to place on a house spot will be fair to all of them."

And yes O.S.I. admitted it was a program bug and that they would not redo the process.

I would love to believe that not one house placing script still works in UO.

What I believe is that many cheater auto house placing scripts DO still work.

So! As long as Gms or devs are watching for players parked at the spot auto running some sort of place program, then fine.

What I think will happen is some day I will log on and see certain names on all available Luna spots on many shards. Most will immediately be for sale for a mere ten bazillion.

Most of the OSI houses are gone, the old ones i mean. the new ones are from the start of the shadow war when people started placing in a guard zone. the luna plots will start opening this week. random is best since implementing a raffle or similar would be costly and time consuming.

They should just flatten some areas in T2A and allow housing to be placed there, I think 70% of those lands are just wasted space anyways.
