So, do I have to decode to get my final .4?

I mean I can dig up a treasure map and get a chest full of craptacular loot and a backpack containing a useless arty that everyone has 1000 of.

...all in the time it would take to get 3x the gold if I was one-hitting efreets.

edit: and btw since they made ancient wyrms much harder... a t-hunter mage is no longer enough.

Some are also worth keeping, I do better selling the good ones then turning them in for 500 points.

My treasure hunter was designed to be completely unable to handle higher level chests by herself. I have remove trap for example (so I could do town chests back in the day without reagents). I look forward to refilling my map chests after Spring Cleaning is over.

Maps won't give you as much as regular hunting, but they can be a lot of fun with a group. The social aspect of t-maps shouldn't be overlooked. Though I find it amusing that an SOS chest seems to have more gems inside (which I keep for tinkered jewelery), but I could be mistaken.

I would have to disagree with that edit statement. A t-hunter mage is enough - if you have the right equipment/macros.

Yes from 99.6 on you have to decode maps. It takes about 100 if you don't ggs it and 4 if you ggs it.

Not really seeing that in the time it takes to do that t-chest you could be doing vanguards (5000 points) solo with the same character type.

There is a difference between the most efficient way and the way that results in me having the most fun. I've been mixing up my point gathering between SOS bottles, vanguards, ophidians, miasma for ingenious maps, and the actual maps. Barely had time to turn any of it in. I play to have fun, so while there is probably a more efficient way, there is a certain fun running from a balron with my little guttersnipe of a treasure hunter.
